Valentine’s Day
is fast approaching and the much anticipated film will open on February12 12th. Yesterday evening stylish stars flocked to the movie’s Los Angeles premier. Anne Hathaway was as haute as ever in a Marchesa mini, while Jessica Biel went for a asymetrical gown by Oscar de la Renta.  Jennifer Garner opted for a spruced up little black Valentino dress with nude insets and beaded mesh detail. Demi Moore joined her hubby Ashton Kutcher, who stars in the movie, in a winter white frock from the Chanel Spring 2009 Couture collection. She accessorized with Chanel jewels and Roger Vivier’s Pochette Rosa in black velvet. Ladies, take inspiration from these lovely ladies. demi

Jason Wu is not only one of American fashion’s most talented designers, he also happens to be one of the nicest guys around. Wu has always been beyond talented, paying particular attention to detail, but last year his career exploded when Wu dressed First Lady Michelle Obama for the Inauguration. He has since moved his studio to posh new digs on  35th Street, launched a line of sunglasses with Modo, and has designed stunning gowns for Hollywood’s leading ladies. For Fall 2010 Wu is not only showing his eponymous collection, but he will also his present his cashmere line for TSE. GlamChic caught up with Wu to talk pizza, blonde moments and what’s inspiring him now.

What’s inspiring you now?
Vintage Irving Penn photographs, old-world couture silhouettes and details, and earth-centric prints and patterns.

Where will you be wining and dining this season?
I will be heading to Momofuku for their delicious steamed pork buns, DB Bistro Moderne for their famous burger, and the Standard Grill for their creative cocktails.

Describe your Fall 2010 collection in 140 characters or less.
Fall is about construction vs. deconstruction, positives and negatives–elevating a garment’s raw materials to objects of beauty.

What three things can you not live without?
My iPhone, Converse sneakers, and a constant supply of Starbucks.

What cartoon character do you most identify with and why?
Bubbles from The Powerpuff Girls–because I can have my blonde moments!

What’s the most stylish place in New York?
The West Village. Whether I’m trying out a new brunch spot or just walking down the streets, it’s the perfect place to people-watch and get inspired.

You were famously eating Domino’s pizza when you saw your gown on Michelle Obama, so we have to ask–who makes the best pizza in NYC?
I love Otto in Greenwich Village (1 5th Ave.).

Where would you most like to travel next and why?

I am currently planning a trip to Taiwan in April–and am excited to be returning home at last. Then, in March, it’s off to Uruguay for a much-needed vacation.

rihanna
Rihanna knows how to make a major statement and for the Pepsi Refresh Project Kick Off Party, the artist wore a blue strapless mini dress from Christian Siriano’s Spring 2010 collection. We love the ruffle detail and have to say this frock reminds us of an 80s prom dress. Siriano will show his Fall 2010 collection on February 12th at 3pm and fabulous confections are sure to abound.

kardashianatfashionweek
It’s hard to keep up with the Kardashians. With boyfriends playing in the Super Bowl, husbands on the court, sisters giving birth, and promoting random products, the family is always quite busy. But come New York Fashion Week, we know where Kim, Khloe and Kourtney will be. The Kardashian girls will be showing their Bebe Fall 2010 collection as part of STyle360 on Tuesday, February 16th at 10am. The night before they will party with the retailer and we’re expecting them to make several front row appearances in Bryant Park. Based on Kim’s obvious Herve Leger obsession, we’re assuming she will join the other pretty young things in Max Azria’s front row on Sunday, February 14th. We’ll let you know when we have our first sighting! ~Nola Weinstein

adamskirts
The cut-out trend dominated the spring runway and we found ourselves wondering how wearable it would be. Then we saw this amazing skirt from Adam Lippes and we knew we’d found our match. Adam’s Cotton Tweed Loop Cut-Out mini, which is available in citron, black, and milk,  is both structured and sexy.  It’s the kind of piece that can transition from season to season with a change of shoes. We’ll take one in every color.
Available at shopadam.com for $465.

George Chakra will bring his Fall 2010 Edition collection to The Promenade at Bryant Park on Saturday February 13th at 11am and when he does expect to see creatively glamourous confections. This season the designer was inspired bythe works of Argentinean artist Lucio Fontana and the expression of a fourth dimension demonstrated in his artwork.

wylde
With New York Fashion Week just around the corner we are beefing up our flat boot arsenal and are on the hunt for styles that stand out. These Thomas Wylde Skull-studded boots fit the bill. We’ve already done the gold nail heads and chain details, but black leather biker boots stamped with dozens of skulls is definitely a  unique way to make a style statement. Perfect for the cool girl with rock-n-roll edge, this pair is made for Bryant Park walking.
Available at Net-a-porter.com for $1,925

llucaluca“This season’s collection is inspired by the diverse roles of women in today’s society, exemplified through architectural sculpture and contour and the juxtaposition of polar opposites,” said Raul Melgoza, designer and creative director of Luca Luca. “I have harmoniously combined opposing elements–structure and fluidity, masculine and feminine, soft and coarse, dense and sheer, matte and shiny. The shoes for this collection are cohesive with the inspiration of our clothing collection. Our booties, for example, play with contrast through the opposing textures of patent and matte leathers. Our t-strap pumps contrast suede with matte leather. The result is a new spin on refined sex appeal.”
