Rodnik Upgrades Snoopy & the Gang

Rita Ora is already a fan of Rodnik and with this news, we think you will, too! British label Rodnik is partnering with the Peanuts on a line of everything. Like, literally everything, from baseball caps to a sequined gown, coming this September.

“Snoopy is such an iconic image, there’s so much nostalgia there—so it’s about updating him and giving him a twist, “ said Philip Colbert, the label’s founder and designer. “Just giving it a spin so it connects with younger people.”

The collection’s price point speaks to that: a sequin dress starts at $180, shirts for $39, jersey dresses for $90 and handbags for $80.

Who Run the World? Wintour, Prada, Burch, DVF, and Bundchen!

Forbes has been known to create a list or two, determining the most powerful, the richest, the most successful individuals across the world. With its latest list, the glossy is looking into the Most World’s 100 Most Powerful Women – and a few fashion leaders made the ranks.

Anna Wintour leads the charge at 41, Miuccia Prada at 58, followed by Tory Burch at 69, Diane von Furstenberg at 74, Mindy Grossman of HSN at 89, and  Gisele Bundchen (the only model to make the list) at 95. Though only six women in the fashion industry made the list, the combination is an impressive one. With Wintour’s new role at Conde Nast and Burch’s undeniable prowess, we’re hardly shocked to see them among other female thought leaders like Sheryl Sandberg and Oprah Winfrey.

We are slightly surprised to see Jenna Lyons didn’t earn a spot? Who else do you think should be on the list?

J.Crew Pops Up in London

The stylish are coming, the stylish are coming!

J.Crew announced its arrival on British soil yesterday with an Instagram photo – the word ‘hi’ built from red bottles in the window of Central Saint Martins College of Art and Design. The American staple hopped the pond to create a pop-up shop so Brits can enjoy Jenna Lyons’ brilliance in anticipation of the full-blown store that’s set to launch on Regent Street.

In true Lyons fashion, a pop up shop isn’t all she’s offering at the current moment. She tasked students at Central Saint Martins with designing a cashmere piece to be sold in stores and online.

“We wanted people to have a personal connection to us,” said Lyons. “We want people to have a point of view, that’s what Central Saint Martins cultivates. If you never expand your world and push the boundaries of what you can do, it’s hard to carve your piece.”

In addition to the honor of having their creation sold at J.Crew, the retailer is offering one CSM MA student a scholarship every year for the next three years, chosen by Lyons and the school’s fashion course director, Louise Wilson. The money will cover tuition feels and housing for a year.

Talk about one sweet deal.

Style Scoop: Vivienne Westwood Revives Punk Archives, Proenza Schouler is First in Class, Yahoo Takes Over Tumblr

Who could be more unapologetically punk than the one and only Vivienne Westwood? In light of this month’s Met Gala and the opening of Punk: Chaos to Couture, the U.K. clothier is digging into her archives for some vintage wears. Westwood released a new Chaos collection that includes punk tees and accessories with designs she first crafted in the 1970s. [Vivienne Westwood]

The Parsons pair now known as Proenza Schouler took a trip down memory lane as the 2013 honorees for their alma mater’s Fashion Benefit. Jack McCollough and Lazaro Hernandez joined Hudson’s Bay Company president Bonnie Brooks as the event’s trio of the hour, which awarded 2013 graduates with top design honors and raised scholarship money for prospective students. McCoullough chatted with ELLE about how the benefit changed his own life as a New School student. “It was actually at this event, 11 years ago, that started our career. We met Peter Arnold, who was the director of the CFDA at the time. He introduced us to Barneys, who bought our senior year collection,” McCoullough said. “It can be a powerful event for a lot of the students here, today. Who knows what could come out of it?” [ELLE]

Tumblr boasts a $1.1 billion price tag and the authorities at Yahoo have tucked away just enough to buy it out. The internet company bought the David Karp creation earlier this week, leaving fans of the blogging phenomenon wary of ad takeover. According to Karp and Yahoo CEO Marissa Mayer, though, the acquisition will be virtually invisible to the Tumblr audience. “Our team isn’t changing. Our roadmap isn’t changing,” said Karp, who insists that the site will still operate independently. Mayer offered even more reassurance on her own Tumblr page, writing “We promise not to screw it up.” As long as we’ve got gifs galore and can reblog our favorite fashion ads with little interference, we’re game. What’s it like to drip in the same Bulgari jewels once worn by Elizabeth Taylor? Award-winning actress Jessica Chastain knows. “It was so thrilling to wear it, but I was overwhelmed too. It was a little scary,” the Zero Dark Thirty star said about wearing Taylor’s sapphire and diamond necklace to the Cannes screening of Cleopatra. “I was the first person to wear it since Elizabeth. I felt as if I was able to spend the day with her today by wearing the necklace.” [People Style Watch]

Ralph Lauren Corp.’s signature style isn’t exclusive to the Hamptons or New York’s Madison Avenue. The equestrian favorite is rolling out worldwide. “Our relentless focus on innovation and our commitment to superior craftsmanship continued to build our global customer base,” said namesake CEO Ralph Lauren. “We have an exciting next few years ahead of us, especially as we grow our global store network and e-commerce platforms to showcase the full scope of our brand portfolio and lifestyle sensibilities.” Up ahead is the brand’s expansion in Latin America and Asia. Vera Wang is embarking on a trip back home as the 2013 commencement speaker at Sarah Lawrence College. Wang, who earned a degree in art history from the school, told WWD that diversity and openness to change will be key points in her address. “Everyone is different, whether that be different ethnicities, upbringings, education or anything else. Without diversity, the world is very judgmental and very limiting,” Wang said. “Different people bring different things to each situation. These have really been the tenets of the school from day one.” [WWD]

The gap between magazine must-haves and brick-and-mortar finds has been bridged thanks to Magnetique. The mobile app captures coveted items from your glossy of choice, lists the brand name and price, then directs users to the closest store that has the merchandise in stock. After debuting this month, Magnetique has been fully integrated with InStyle and Glamour, and app developers project it will be activated in all top fashion magazines by the end of the year. Carine Roitfeld and Amanda Seyfried Become Nomads for Givenchy

Carine Roitfeld turned Givenchy’s upcoming campaign into a family affair! In her continued partnership with the brand’s designer, Riccardo Tisci, the editrix doubled up on her role for the Fall campaign, styling and modeling alongside her daughter (and new mom) Julia Restoin Roitfeld! But that’s not all.

To build a bridge between beauty and fashion, Tisci also tapped Amanda Seyfried, the new face of the brand’s Very Irresistible fragrance, to pose alongside Spanish actor Quim Gutiérrez and models Mariano Ontañon and Dalianah Arekion. Photographers Mert Alas and Marcus Piggott lent their artistic eye for the campaign, which exudes a nomadic vibe.

So what sparked his choices for his eclectic cast? He felt they were “real gypsies in their own lives,” he told Women’s Wear Daily. “They are never in one place. They travel the world.”

The ads will hit newsstands in September following the opening of his Paris boutique in July.

Daniella Helayel Leaves Issa!

The designer who put the London-based brand Issa on the map is leaving the company she founded. An official statement will be released later today, but Vogue UK is reporting that she’s been unhappy for some time and her departure isn’t a surprise.

“The time has come for me to move on to focus on my art, travel, and other interests,” Daniella Helayel said. “Creating Issa has been one of the most rewarding things in my life. I may be leaving, but the Issa girl will live forever in my heart.”

Considering that Kate Middleton is probably the ultimate “Issa girl,” it shouldn’t be hard to keep the brand alive and thriving. The timing of the announcement is a little strange considering Helayel recently designed a collaboration with Banana Republic and The Outnet. However, Blue Farrier who has previously worked at Chloè, Stella McCartney and Anya Hindmarch will succeed Helayel.

Ask a Stylist: How to Make Shorts and Flats Look Chic

Q: I’m moving to a new city where walking is the preferred method of transportation. I live in heels but I don’t want to walk a mile in them. There is also the summer heat to take into consideration. So my question is this, how do I pair shorts with flats without looking frumpy?

A: Great question. When the temperature rises the thought of slipping on a pair of jeans and heels makes me absolutely crazy. It’s simply not going to happen. I’ve actually amassed quite a collection of cute shorts and flats that are far from frumpy. The secret is in the combination. Let me show you the way …

Combination #1: Short-shorts and sandals

When wearing super-short shorts you want to show as much leg as possible to give the illusion of mile long legs. The best way to do this is with strappy flat sandals.

Rag & Bone shorts // Rag & Bone sandals

Combination #2: Tailored shorts and smoking slippers

A smoking slipper is a great alternative to a boring pair of flats.  I love pairing them with a chic pair of tailored shorts for a dressier look.

Valentino twill shorts // Christian Louboutin slippers

Combination #3: High-waist shorts and wedges

Okay, so wedges aren’t technically flats but they are comfortable and certainly easy to walk in – so there you go. Wear them with high-waisted shorts for a retro-inspired look.

Tucker shorts // Stella McCartney wedges

Combination #4: Loose fitting shorts with ballet flats

A loose fitting pair of shorts is great for a girl with fuller thighs because it gives the illusion of having slimmer legs (we love that). Style this girly silhouette with a cute pair of ballet flats for a extra-cute vibe.

Moschino ruffled shorts // Lanvin yellow ballet flats
