Pippa Middleton loves Kate Spade, and it looks like Kate Spade loves her too! The department store just underwent a major makeover: expanding aisles, expanding with three new floors, adding a Coffee Bea & Tea leaf, and naming costume designer Eric Daman as the official spokesperson! For the relaunch of the “Ali Baba’s tavern of designer discounts” as he describes it, we chatted with Daman about his types for finding shopping the store, his first Century 21 purchase, and the one designer piece both he and Blake Lively wore.

Do you remember the first thing you bought at Century 21?

“It was in the early 90s; I was modeling. I was in New York, I had a casting for Jean Paul Gaultier a week later and I really wanted to wear something Gaultier to my Gaultier casting. [My agency was] like ,’Oh you should go check out Century 21, they’re definitely going to have something. They always have designer stuff at amazing discounts.’ I didn’t know what it was. I came to Century 21 and I found this amazing Jean Paul Gaultier Hawaiian shirt that I wore to my casting and two weeks later, I was walking his runway and I owe it all to Century 21.”

Is that the best purchase you ever made at Century 21?

“I also found this amazing white linen [Gaultier] tailcoat that I used on Gossip Girl on Serena. It’s kind of one of those defining moments like, Oh, Serena’s on the list. I have a boho-mix-it-up-girl where she can wear a white tailcoat with denim shorts. For me, it kind of solidified who she was. Then I actually stole it from her closet to wear to Blake’s 21st birthday party, which was a Gatsby themed party at the Palace Hotel. It had a full evolution.”

Century 21 can be a little overwhelming when you come shopping here, what are you three tips to find good deals?

1. Come in with an idea of color.
2. Know your floors. Know what’s on that floor.
3. Come with a plan. Don’t come to browse unless you’re a professional browser, it can get very overwhelming.

What’s your dream for your partnership with Century 21?

“I hope to be able help them educate the consumer. I feel like there are so many people who are afraid to shop here. They’re petrified of walking in. [I'm going to be] able to give them tips, do capsule collections on the website and also giving style tips you can follow through the website and find in the store. [I'll be giving] insider tips and guidance on how to shop here at Century 21.”

Almost a million dollars worth of Chopard jewelry was stolen from a hotel in Cannes during the major film festival! The jewelry was set to be loaned to Cara Delevingne, Cindy Crawford and Lana Del Rey.

According to Vogue UK, the collection of baubles was taken from a safe in the Novotel hotel room of a Chopard employee yesterday.

Chopard is one the sponsors of the Cannes Film Festival, making this heist an even bigger scandal. How could anyone have managed such a thing? What’s more, whatever will those starlets wear on the red carpet?!

Remember those rumors of Rihanna designing a line for Topshop? They almost seem laughable with today’s news. The singer is reportedly suing the British brand to the tune of $5 million.

According to The New York Post, Topshop is selling T-shirts with her face on them without her consent and she is less than pleased. Her management has been trying to resolve the issue for the last eight months to no avail.

The singer has moved forward with legal action enlisting international law firm Reed Smith to handle the issue.

The t-shirts, dubbed the Icon Tank, are still available on Topshop’s site, but here’s the kicker. They’re described as a “photographic tank with a photographic motif of a girl wearing a headscarf.”

Ouch.

Harper’s Bazaar is coming to France! Hearst Magazine’s International and Groupe Marie Claire that publishes Marie Claire and Cosmopolitan in France, will launch a French edition of Harper’s Bazaar, Women’s Wear Daily reported.

“[Launching in France is very important] because of the fashion heritage of France,” said Duncan Edwards, president of Hearst Magazines International. “I wish we launched there a long time ago.”

French journalist Alexandra Senes will oversee the magazine as editor-in-chief. The glossy will be published 12 times a year, targeting a “high-scale readership,” according to WWD. Senes is well versed in the magazine business, launching Jalouse magazine in 1998, working as editor-in-chief and contributing to L’Officiel and Architectural Digest. She founded SAS, a communications agency, hosted and produced a fashion series called “La Vitrine” for a French TV channel. She has curated fashion exhibits for department stores like Printemps and Le Bon Marchè. Most recently, she launched a clothing line sold at Colette called Kilometre.

Numerous editors were in the running according to Edwards but it was Senes’ enthusiastic ideas that set her apart. An official release date for the magazine hasn’t been released yet.

Conde Nast’s French Vanity Fair will hit newsstands June 26^th.

Emma Watson is no real-life Hermione Granger, and her June 2013 cover for W Magazine is letting us know she’s all grown up. Speaking of The Bling Ring and the annual French fair, headlines are swarming with news that more than $1 million of Chopard jewelry has been stolen from a Cannes hotel. Chopard, an official sponsor of the Cannes Film Festival, has already loaned baubles to Cara Delevingne, Cindy Crawford, and Lana Del Rey for the red carpet; but with nine more days to go and plenty of celebrities left to adorn, we wonder if any back-up bling is in place. Andrew Marc is expanding its style horizons with the help of Richard Chai. Chai has been appointed the brand’s new creative consultant and will produce an inaugural Andrew Marc by Richard Chai collection for Spring 2014. “We chose Richard Chai for the great sense of detail and architectural design he brings to his work, which resonates with our brand’s rich history,” said Andrew Marc’s new president Stephen Budd. “Working with Richard to develop this collection is a very exciting opportunity for us. Richard brings a more forward natural interpretation of the Andrew Marc vision.” [WWD]

Don’t mess with RiRi. The Diamonds World Tour diva has filed a $5 million lawsuit against TopShop for allegedly selling shirts with her image—but without her consent. “Even though the UK laws don’t protect the artist, she has decided to move forward and sue Topshop. She has spent almost $1 million in litigation at this point,” a source told The New York Post. “She says it’s the principle, and wants to make a statement about it.” [Vogue UK]

Harper’s Bazaar is finally setting foot in France. The Hearst magazine is launching a French edition to be led by journalist Alexandra Senes. The move is part of the magazine’s push for globalization that will see German and Japanese editions launching at the end of the year. [WWD]

First comes the Vanity Fair interview, then comes… the television reveal? Former Christian Dior creative director John Galliano is reportedly considering a television appearance as part of his road to redemption. His publicist, Liz Rosenberg said “there are no plans in place regarding TV appearances for John at this time,” but rumor has it that Charlie Rose is open for a sit-down. [WWD]

George Lois, Patricia Field, and will.i.am were among the honored guests at last night’s Clio Awards in New York City. The annual ceremony, which salutes creatives in advertising across all media, lauded Lois with the Lifetime Achievement Award while Fields and the Black Eyed Peas frontman went home with an Honorary Clio for their creative impact on culture. The real news of the evening, though was that Women’s Wear Daily will be partnering with Clio next year for the first annual Clio Image Awards. [WWD]

It’s a sad day for soccer fans who’ve just learned of David Beckham‘s retirement, but for those of us with a more fashion-forward eye, it could be great news. The stylish athlete may be courting the idea of his own fashion line, à la wife Victoria Beckham.
