Joy Bryant at the Roxy Party
Riding the wave of models-who-do-more, Roxy spokesgirl Lisa Anderson (who also happens to be a four-time World Champion Surfer) made an appearance in landlocked Soho earlier this week to launch Surf Girl Roxy. Penned by author Natalie Linden, the lush coffee table book features 200+ photographs of the surf gear surfers and their water-logged adventures across the globe. The laid-back event drew a wide range of adventurous sunseekers including designer Tracy Feith, surf artist Tom Adler, actress Joy Bryant and photographer Dewey Nicks.—Crystal Hines

In case you didn’t know, Diane Von Furstenberg, she-of-the-wrap-dress and globetrotting-style bar-raiser (hel-loo?! Have you seen those H.Stern knuckle-dusters?) is certifiably awesome, in pretty much every way that counts. And in just the past ten days she’s given us 3 more demonstrations of her awesomeness:
1) She unveiled her Wonder Woman-inspired collection for holiday ’08. The freshy, sporty line features bold hues and patterns that recall my grade-school sticker collection, and is sure to fly right off shelves come November. (Get it? Fly?)
2) Last Monday she held court at the star-studded Costume Institute Ball. With the Olsen twins as one of her 6 dates. And she brought a camera.
3) She recently posted her VIP candids for all to see on her online “magazine.”
Love.
Check. It. Out. Now.

The StyleMob Soiree
San Francisco spent the weekend recovering from one of the biggest, most-buzzed about parties to hit the scene in a while—the Glam Spring Mix party. The must-know crowd of the bay area all convened to celebrate Glam’s acquisition of StyleMob, a street fashion community where members upload outfits and vote on the best looks of the day. Held at the Ambassador Lounge, a swank, vintage-style lounge in downtown San Francisco, the party was at full-capacity (500 people!) by 7pm.
The crowd was a unique mix of bloggers, venture capitalists, fashion lovers, independent designers, and StyleMob members and the vibe was quite fashionable but friendly. (Who said the chic can’t also be sweet?) Also on hand were reporters from the LA Times, NY Times, and the Financial Times, as well as bloggers from VentureBeat, TechCrunch, and Mashable. This eclectic crowd sipped on Glam-tinis: VeeV Vodka, fresh pomegranate juice, cranberry juice, served UP with a twist.
The highlight of the night was the fashion show which was both unconventional and fun. As StyleMob is all about fashion democracy, so was the show—featuring modles of all styles and body types. Their common denominator? Creativity! Here’s a small taste: Patrick Koppula, the CEO of ffwd, strutted the catwalk in a shirt he designed and had made in India. Rachel Green, a San Francisco State student, wore an Anna Sui blouse with a vintage locket necklace with black skinny jeans. Nicole Renee Barnes, a marketing manager for a mobile technology company, wore a silver dress designed by Kara Janx, previously of Project Runway, and Christian Louboutin leopard-print heels.–Tracey Anderson

Morning! While you ponder over which mochafrappuccinochaiconcoction to order to charge up your morning, might I offer some zero-calorie guilty pleasures for you to chew on? Start your day off right by looking at some far-too-pretty stars who did far more interesting things than you did last night. (Let’s face it, watching the Gossip Girl season premiere in your Juicy shorts doesn’t count as being especially fabulous.)
While the rest of the city was crowded around their DVRs, the fashion cognoscenti flocked to Lincoln Center, where YSL hosted the Metropolitan Opera’s opening night. (The storied French house is a major sponsor for this season’s performances.) Designer Stefano Pilati himself was on hand to entertain his guests who no doubt were tres grateful for translator boxes while watching the awesome La Fille Du Regiment. Here, the finest sampling of who you didn’t see last night, and what you didn’t wear. Gaze over then get back to work!

The Model. Not to be confused with….
Last night while having supper at the cozy Hotel Amour— Freemans of Paris—our candle-lit meal was briefly interrupted by the glare of camera flashes. “Oh that’s just Coco Rocha’s video crew,” said a fellow diner, “They are making a day-in-the-life film about her Paris fashion week experiences.” (Unfortunately the restaurant din caused me to mis-hear this statement; For a second I thought CocoRosie—the psychedelic rock group helmed by two cross-dressing sisters—was in town staging some anti-fashion happening. ) Soon after Rocha, the statuesque model strode in and sat down large table next to us, where—among other friends—her mother was already seated. Cute! (And to answer the question blinking in your brain, Rocha did in fact eat—bread and butter no less!) To learn more about the model—including why she wants to rush home to NYC—check out Refinery29.com later this week.

A, ah-hem, view of the Crazy Horse stage
I have, in my possession, a video clip from last night’s Roberto Cavalli bash at the Crazy Horse. It was quite a feat to get too because:
1)the party was mobbed and therefore difficult to get past the paparazzi zooming in on Vivica Fox in a Leger dress (why not a Cavalli frock V.F.?)
2) very dark and crowded inside the burlesque club
3) club rules prohibit photographing or video-taping the “performance”
Despite all that, I managed to film about 60 seconds of insanely fit’n'trim girls gyrating around the stage in unison—while more than a few fashion industry regulars looked on attentively, champers in hand. I was all set to share the clip with you–nothing goes better with an A.M. cup of coffee than a shot of Parisian burlesque!–but stopped myself mid-mouse click. A video clip of nude girls on GlamChic might attract readers in search of something else besides scintillating fashion reportage. To keep things PG and porn spam-free, I leave you with one lone shot and a question: Could Louboutin’s red soles look any sexier?*
*In case you can’t tell from my miniscule shot above, the Crazy Horse starlet performed in red-soled heels. She and here peers were, shall we say, strategic with their accessorizing.
