Kimora Lee Simmons Hosts A Decade of Fashion
Who was one of the last to arrive at Kimora Lee Simmon’s Decade of Fashion party? Kimora, of course. As you know, fabulosity takes time. The minute she waltzed in, the energy in the room shifted. Reporters perked up and photographers had their cameras aimed and ready. She hit the red carpet like a pro, smiling and posing with hottie honey Djimon Hounsou. I was pleasantly surprised to find out that with all the presence she exudes on television, she’s even more striking and charismatic in person. The stylish glamazon had much to say…
GlamChic: What was the inspiration for your new line?
Kimora: Um, it’s a little Saharan Desert and disco. Disco in the desert. So, it was a neutral palette with pops of bright color. And it was sort of utilitarian pockets mixed with asymmetrical necklines and wide legs and high waists and big chunky jewelry. So it was very disco-ish. Great bags, great accessories.
GlamChic: What are your plans now that it’s over?
Kimora: I’m going to my dinner and after party here at The Plaza.
GlamChic: Are you relieved now that it’s over or are suffering a little Postpartum Depression?
Kimora: Well, Postpartum Depression is like when you’re sad and out of your mind and don’t know what’s going on. I’m in high ecstasy mode…high, happy, and ecstatic. I’m relieved it’s over but not depressed at all. It went really well. It was a great crowd. My honey was there, Carmelo Anthony was there, André Leon Talley was there. Serena Williams was there waiting for me. And I saw her at the U.S. Open, and I’m so proud of her. We’re going to party and have a good time tonight.
GlamChic: How do you stay down to earth with all the glitz and glam surrounding you?
Kimora: I am really down to earth. A lot of people don’t know that about me. I am very down to earth which means I will curse you out and love you equally. I’m from Saint Louis, Missouri. It’s like no airs about me. And anyone who knows me knows that’s true, and if you don’t know me, you think “Oh my god, she’s this and she’s that.” But you don’t know me. If you know me, I’m a good mother, I’m very down to earth. I keep it real. I keep it moving, hunny, which is why I’m a fashion staple. If you can’t keep it moving, it’s no good.
GlamChic: Speaking of motherhood, are you planning on having more children in the future?
Kimora: I would love to. I practice every day.
Hysterical. Entertaining. And always fabulous. ~ Maria Denardo
