Not many alcoholic beverages can claim to be good for you, but there is at least one that contains iron, Vitamin B, antioxidants and has been proven to lower the risk of heart attack. Never fear, it still tastes great!
Guinness is a dry stout that comes from Dublin, Ireland. Don’t let the dark color scare you, it’s rich, malty and creamy, but not bitter. Guinness is surprisingly low in calories (about 125 calories per 12 ounce bottle or can). As you can probably tell, Guinness is one of my favorite beverages. It’s also the perfect drink to enjoy on St. Patrick’s day which is just one week away.
In addition to drinking Guinness straight, I like cooking with it.
Here are some links to great recipes that use Guinness:
I’m also a sucker for the vintage imagery found on Guinness advertisements. Now through March 17th, Guinness offers free shipping on these way cool posters, if your purchase is over $75.
Cheers!
