Need a good reason to hit the theaters this weekend? Well, turns out people who snack on popcorn (a favorite movie-munchie) are getting more whole grains in their diet than those who don’t, according to a new study published in the Journal of the American Dietetic Association.
Dieticians encourage us to get more whole grains like whole wheat, oats and brown rice in our diets. These foods are higher in disease-fighting, dietary fiber and nutrients than foods processed to remove the bran – like products made from white flour. But in case you were afraid the only
way to get your daily recommended allowance of fiber was to feast on whole wheat breads and pasta, guess what also counts? Popcorn!
So escape the stress of your week, relax with family and friends, and take a break from the heatwave that’s hitting the Western states. Just pop into your local theater for some cool weekend entertainment that will do you good – body and soul.
