4th of July BBQ

Nothing is more all-American, than a BBQ bash to celebrate Independence Day. Completely last minute, I decided to plan a 4th of July fete for a few friends and was totally stressing about all the party details. Have no fear, the Glam Network is here! If you are also in last-minute-hostess-mode, these links will certainly make your BBQ bash easier, fashionable and fun!

I’ve spotted some feel-good-BBQ-shopping on GlamSpree, lots of great tabletop accessories hand crafted around the world and sold through World of Good, a fair trade company.

                               bucketbbq

Sometimes grills are hard to come by for city dwellers with limited yard space. I picked up the Bucket BBQ I found on Shiny Shiny, perfect for safe grilling on my tiny terrace.

If you are expecting any vegetarian guests, check out Nubella’s tips for veggie grilling rookies.

In need of menu ideas? Try the “Upscale Barbecue” dishes created by contestants of Top Chef 3 featured on Reality Exploits!

From Wave-Your-Flag-Cheesecake to Sparklin’ Marshmallow Crispy Treats, Thrifty Mommy highlights numerous easy and patriotic dessert recipes from Jell-O!

Red, white and blue fashions and accessories are a must for any BBQ hostess. Luckily, Fashiontribes has found several chic outfit options for the tri-color-scheme.

Cool Summer Salads

When the hot summer months roll around, I’m always craving light and fresh salads at the end of the day (sadly these craving haven’t surfaced lately due to the Bay Area’s infamous June gloom). I thought I’d scan the Glam Network to find a few recipes so that I am fully prepared when the sun finally decides to shine and the temperatures begin to rise!

         fruit_salad

Fresh fruit is a sure way to beat the heat, check out Beauty Den’s  fruit salad recipe with a lemon/mint dressing.

The salads I spotted on Thrifty Mommy have my stomach growling. I’m definitely trying the Broccoli with Bacon and the Taco Pasta Salad!

         tomato_salad

Every summer I look forward to Heirloom tomatoes, but with watermelon? I’m curious to try The Food Section’s Heirloom Tomato and Watermelon Salad.

Whenever I’m out for sushi, I always devour the complimentary edamame. No doubt I’ll enjoy the Edamame and Radish salad I found on She’s A Betty

Glam’s own Lifestyle Editor, Erika Lenkert from GlamNest, got her hands on a specatular chopped salad recipe from San Francisco’s TWO restaurant.  I’m excited to try this “light, healthy yumminess.”

Clearly I have plenty of good options to try. Here’s hoping for anything above 80 degrees!

Stay classy,

Annie

P.S. For another cool treat for warm weather days, check out the tasty and refreshing frozen wine from Foodie Obsessed.

Plan The Perfect Picnic

The June Gloom has finally passed and the weather’s never looked better. The sun is shining, the breeze is blowing, and the birds are finally chirping (although, I’d appreciate if that one rogue bluebird outside my bedroom window stops waking me up at four in the morning). It’s the perfect weather to host your own summer picnic. I looked around the Glam Network for tips.

dress.jpg

The most important part of a picnic? Your outfit, of course! BGlam’s picked out some adorable summer dresses from C&C California.

Ask Fashion Kitty picks the best summer makeup products to prevent your face from pulling a Wicked Witch of the West (melting off, that is).

cupcake.jpg

A picnic wouldn’t be the same without some good food. 55 Secret Street shares some recipes for red velvet cupcakes, tortilla chips and some Oprah-approved TangOrita.

It’s never too early to get your drink on. Accidental Hedonist shows you how to concoct your very own Watermelon martini.

nose.jpg

At least for me, the only thing that’s keeping me away from spending an afternoon outside is my seriously gross allergy. I’m a little reluctant to try Blog Fabulous’ nose bidet (I pour that up where?), but Dr. Oz did dub it his miracle cure.

Europestring makes picnicking easy with a diorama.

See you all on the lawn!

Love you lots, Connie
