Unique Handbags

Some Editors really know how to spot innovative products. In this case its handbags and these editors really know how to pick them. These handbags are unique when it comes to shapes, sizes, and their appearance.

The Undercover Brain Bag by Jun Takashi

The Brain Bag was discovered by BagBliss and was designed by Jun Takashi. This bag is very unique and we’ve never seen anything like it. While it does look like a brain, (which is a little weird) its shape has a lot of movement.

Marni’s Trash Sack - Are You *Fabbing* Kidding Me?

bagdream-uniquebags.jpg
Ever since thrift store shopping for vintage finds became popular, designers have begun to make items that look vintage and worn out with a heavy price tag. Bag Dream found a handbag that was taken to the next level. Marni’s trash sack really does resemble a trash bag and it’s over a thousand dollars!

Creative Contests: Are You Feeling Lucky?

It seems like spring is the season for promotions, contests, entry forms and big winnings. The contest ideas are wide ranging, and the opportunities vary from talented design competitions to just plain old luck (i.e. no skills required). I recently won under the latter circumstance (I happened to be the 5th caller for Giants tickets), but let me tell ya, it felt good! Who doesn’t love freebies/ recognition/ rewards/winning? Here are a few fun contests I found across the Glam Network, why not give one (or a few) a try!

Dwell invites you to design a modern home in the wonderful urban community of San Francisco’s SOMA district. Submit proposals for one of three varied floor plans for homes in The Infinity.

                    The Infinity

For artists and graphic designers, Domestik Goddess spotlights a chance to design the next bottle of the fashionable and eco-friendly beverage, SIGG.

Think your cookies are the best around? Then enter your original recipe in The Search for the Mrs. Fields 30th Anniversary Cookie Contest. Foodie Obsessed has all the details.

Most of you seem to think Sanjaya should have been booted from Idol much earlier in the competition. Nows the chance to prove even you are better than controversial contestant. Idol Stalker has the scoop on the R U Better Than Sanjaya contest.

                                 Sanjaya

Crafty with a steak knife? The Food Section has info on a contest to create an iPod Shuffle out of meat. Maybe not for the vegetarians out there.

There are also two exciting promotions here at Glam! I’ve already told you about the Dreamgirls “Dream Big” Giveaway, and now here’s your chance to BE DISCOVERED! Marie Claire and Glam are looking for the next great handbag designer.

                          Be Discovered

Stay classy,

Annie

P.S. Be sure to let me know if you win any of these contests. Here’s hoping you do!!

Charitable Shopping

Shopping without the guilt! Some of the hottest items on the market right now actually benefit charitable causes. Celebrities are into the stylishly generous craze as well. Items like the Anya Hindmarch’s I’m Not a Plastic Bag (seen on the arm of Kiera Knightly (and her boyfriend!)) may have long waiting lists, but, like Market Bags by Jaye Hersh (owned by Eva Longoria), they are fun and chic, AND support various worthy- and much deserving-causes! There are plenty of ways to get your fashion fix while also becoming an environmentalist/humanitarian/activist. Check out these Network posts and get shopping!

With San Francisco banishing plastic bags, the Anya Hindmarch tote is a must-have for me. Thanks to Coquette’s insider scoop to bi-pass the waiting list, I recently ordered 2 (did I mention they are only $15)!

“Adorable, affordable and support an amazing cause,” Glam Spree highlights Market Bags at Intuition.

As if being the President’s niece, a model and Ralph Lauren’s soon-to-be-daughter-in-law wasn’t enough, Lauren Bush is also a humanitarian and a designer. She Finds has the scoop on her reversible Feed Bag.

Believe it or not, there is more to shoes than cork wedges and Jimmy Choos. They can be the first step to sending a child to school in Africa. Shoe Blog shines light on a reader’s very worthy cause!

You may not agree with his politics, but it’s hard to dislike Al Gore’s environmental efforts. The Bag Lady features Hayden-Harnett’s Friends of Al eco-friendly tote (10 trees are planted for each bag purchased)! At it’s affordable price, there’s certainly no “lock-box” required.

From landfills to catwalks, Hippyshopper covers many opportunities for ethical consumerism.

Stay classy (and charitable),

Annie

P.S.  Check out these celebrities using their star power to contribute to worthy causes!
