Glam Goes #1!

artforblog.jpg

Check it out, ya’ll. Glam Network just sashayed its way into first place in women’s web properties with 17 million viewers going glam. This comes as no surprise to me given how hard the team works and how determined CEO Samir Arora is. But it’s still nice news to those of us who have been tirelessly working to glamorize the online world.

To that end, I want to personally thank you, dear reader, for helping us make it happen. We couldn’t do it without you.

We all perpetually strive to bring you stuff you want to read, and are thrilled to get suggestions. So, lemme know if there’s a particular topic that floats your lifestyle boat, a restaurant recipe you’d die to own, or any other subject you’d like to read more about.

To learn more about Glam’s great news, read the news on Glam.com and check out the New York Post coverage.

Go Glam, go!

Gotta Have It: Wall-Mount Designer Desk

wallmount.jpg

Okay. I’m cookoo for this sleek little number by Bernard Brucha of MASH Studios that I spied on DesignPublic. So what if there’s nowhere to stuff all of my unfiled papers, unpaid bills, and old magazines that I’ll never read–or that since most of my walls are glass, there’s no good place to put it. It’s just so darned chic. And who knows, maybe it would force me to actually use my filing cabinet instead of junk drawers.

Do you like it? Lemme know and happy Friday.

Hot Bachelor of the Day: David Gingrass

Due to the overwhelming requests of friends who read my last post, here, ladies, is a photo of one of San Francisco’s most eligible and desirable bachelors. He’s got a hot restaurant, pad in the city and Napa, he cooks (astoundingly well), he cleans, and he even knows how to do electrical and plumbing! But perhaps best of all, he’s an all-around great guy, good conversationalist, and lovely person. (And hopefully he’s still keen on me after he learns I’m showcasing him.)

Interested parties, drop me a note and I’ll see what I can do! (Incidentally, if you have a hot bachelor you want me to pimp, send a pic and details my way….)

Cocktail Corner: Basil 8

basil81.jpg

Leave it to a South Beach bartender to come up with a drink this sexy and exotic. Straight from Miami hot spot Table 8 in the posh Regent hotel, this luscious libation is what I’ll be throwing back this weekend while covering Napa Valley’s oh-so-highfalutin wine auction. (Look out, folks–baby and hubby are staying home!)

But you don’t need to on the southern shoreline or western wine country to feel the heat. Just mix up a few of these babies, grab friends for some Thursday night fun, and let the weekend begin a day early this week!

Basil 8
4 white grapes
2 large basil leaves
1-1/2 oz. vodka
1/2 oz. simple syrup
1/2 oz. fresh lime juice
Splash of ginger
1 dash of angostura bitters

Muddle 4 white grapes and 2 large basil leaves. Pour in vodka, simple syrup, lime juice, ginger and angostura bitters. Mix and garnish with 3 white grapes on a bamboo pick and a basil leaf.

Kate Spade’s Slick Paper Line

kate-spadeblack-and-white-correspondence-cards.JPG
I am a lazy daughter-of-a-gun in many areas, but handwritten correspondence is not one of them. I firmly believe that while texting or e-mail is great for day-to-day chattter or even invitations to my aforementioned 40th birthday party, it is not remotely optimal for thank-yous, get-wells, wedding announcements, or any other heart-felt sentiments.

Because I always have someone to thank, send wishes to, or celebrate, I regularly load up on cute blank cards, which is no easy task since most of the offerings on the market are curiously cheesy, just miss in color selection, or look plain old boring.
But Crane’s Kate Spade-designed stationary is deliciously perky, tasteful, and fun. Check out a few of the line’s 100%-cotton highlights below.

This one should put some spring in any recipient’s step (10 for $20).

These make me want to be single just so that I can pass out pink cute cards to boys at bars. (They’re not yet on Crane’s site.)

For serious fetes 50 of these customized party girl prints can be yours for $300.

If you simply have to have them, drop by Crane & Co–and also check out their clearance sale, which includes 10 supercute retro holiday cards for $6. (Steal!) There are few things I love more than stationary bargains. Yess, I know I’m a dork.
