Now that it’s October 1st you’ll soon be asked the dreaded water cooler question: What are you going to be for Halloween? As much as I love Halloween celebrations, I’ve always gotten spooked over the pressure conjuring up a clever costume along with a fun theme and tasty feast. Not this year. Check out the October issue Every Day with Rachael Ray magazine and you’ll see how I took the fear out of throwing a fright night party with a Heaven and Hell bash. (That’s me on the right, in the above picture I snagged from the mag’s website.)
Easy to throw, it transports guests to both ends of the karmic spectrum. Wicked cocktails and sinfully rich, fiery hot snacks served in a riotous red room make for a devilishly good time, while delicious all-white desserts in angelically luminous setting elevate partygoers to a state of celestial tranquility.
Far easier to whip together than a classic Shakespeare’s spell of eye of newt, toe of frog, wool of bat, and tongue of dog, this enchanting evening also casts a careless spell on any costume dilemmas. Tell guests to come in everyday party attire and offer them the option of wearing a halo or horns upon arrival, and you’re sure to make everyone’s spirits rise.
Check out the highlights on the magazine’s website by clicking here.
Boo!

I was wondering if you could help me with the red votive holders. I’ve got the votives. I’ve got balloons. I can get the balloon on the candle, but how do you cut it out accurately? I am really struggling to make this work, but I think it is such a cute idea!

Hi Natalie:
Thanks for writing! First, it’s good to use good-quality balloons. They have more agility. Second, try rolling the ballon down onto the votive so that the mouth of the balloon meets the bottom of the votive. Then cut a small circle out of the top of the balloon. It should then be able to be stretched so that it just overlaps the lip of the votive. Does that make sense and work for you? I hope so! Please let me know!
