The sinks I’ve seen this year are awesome. I call them smart sinks! They’re sinks with multiple purposes, designed with multiple work zones. These sinks perform all sorts of prep tasks. They have specialized functions for cleaning, for draining, cutting, and back to prep again with the slide of a sink accessory, back and forth, or up and down. Even LED lights for a touch of glam! Sinks are bigger than ever!

I’ve spotted a mini-trend of longer horizontal lines in kitchen design in general. Some of the newest sinks are long, deep, but not as wide from front to back. It’s a fresh look. Another new look, long past due, are top mount sinks with smart edges…the edges are either decorative, or straight and simple, held up about 1/2″ above the countertop for a modern point of view. What took so long to pay attention to the edges? For the first time in ages, the top mount sink has a new definition of luxury!

All of these sinks are new for 2008, the images are hot off the show floor at KBIS, and some of these sinks have not even had their press releases written! Form and function rules in these sinks…enjoy!
