You found the perfect patio set, that extra cool set of vintage wicker lounge chairs, and a few weather-resistant throw pillows for pattern and comfort. Now all you need is some shade to keep your SPF’d skin from torching under the summer sun.
When I began searching for a new umbrella I couldn’t believe the price tags! True, some of them are works of art, such as those from Janus et Cie (pictured above, which can be purchased through the trade). They are investment pieces that will last a very long time. However, there are also some rather affordable options as well, particularly from places like Home Depot or Lowe’s.
I prefer to spend less on the patio furnishings and accessories and use the extra money to splurge on a statement umbrella. My ultimate choice? The GORGEOUS lacy parasol by Droog design (see below).
