My very stylish and creative friend is in the beginning stages of opening her dream store in South Carolina. Last night we were talking about her plans and I shared with her some of my favorite sources. Here is one you should know:
Design Workshop is a fabulous small furniture company out of North Carolina. It’s been around for well over a decade and just keeps getting better. Since my first trip to the International Furniture Market in High Point, NC, this booth has been one of my must-stops. The offerings have evolved over the years and I really love some of their latest designs. Much of Design Workshop’s line is so versatile and designed to allow you to customize for your needs with adjustable bookshelves and steel frames with multiple storage applications. I also really love the naturally aged and limed oak finishes. What’s even better is that the owner, David Carlton, is committed to producing as much as possible right in North Carolina. So, not only will you love the look of your new furniture, you can feel good about it being made in the U.S.A. Something awfully rare these days.
Check out some of my favorite pieces:

This Rolling Cart is available in 4-, 5-, 6- or 8-foot lengths. It’s shelves are adjustable.

The Screw Top Table is available in 45- or 60-inch diameter and adjusts to bar height. The stools are sold individually.

With it’s folding trusses, you can easily use this desk wherever. It comes with reclaimed wood or steel legs.

I love this Chippendale Styled Bamboo End Table in nickel chrome.

How fun is this cracked oak Drafting Table?

This pretty sideboard comes in three finishes.

There are several chairs in the collection including this Openweave Chair in a steel finish.

This Rolling Kitchen Island is a real workhorse with towel bars and adjustable shelves.

With various components to choose from, both of these frames allow you to create the perfect piece for your space and needs.
Design Workshop doesn’t sell directly to consumers, but contact them at designworkshop@earthlink.net or 910/293-7329 to find a retailer near you.

The old drafting table is the perfect conversation piece for a loft or a big home office. I like its lines.
