Last week, we told you all about the “Dog Days of Summer” extravaganza, taking place tonight, at the The Westin St. Francis. The dog-friendly party will feature chic eats for people and pups, canine-inspired cocktails, and tail-wagging fun for all. If you’re unable to make it, you can still pamper yourself and your furry best friend at the fabulous San Francisco hotel with the “Heavenly Dog Package” which is back by popular (or should we say pupular?) demand.

Upon check-in, two silver platters – one filled with gourmet dog treats and another with homemade giant chocolate chip cookies and two VOSS waters -  will be delivered to the guestroom for owners and their four-legged friends to enjoy (doggies will even get to drink their VOSS water out of a silver bowl).

After a day of sniffing out San Francisco’s best parks and dog-friendly hangouts, haute hounds can retire to doggie nirvana in a custom-designed Westin Heavenly Dog Bed, complete with a miniature duvet for those less than furry fidos who could catch an evening chill. In addition to all of these canine comforts, the “Heavenly Dog Package” also includes the keepsake book Francis: The Earthquake Dog as a special memento of the hotel’s history.

The Westin St. Francis’ dog-friendly history dates back over one hundred years ago to the 1906 Great Earthquake when much of the hotel was destroyed. Several days after the earthquake, while San Francisco was attempting to clean up and rebuild the city, a small terrier was found in the basement of The Westin St. Francis. This little survivor was appropriately named “Francis” and instantly became a celebrity hero, even making an appearance in the San Francisco Chronicle. “Francis” has since become the iconic “Eloise” of The Westin St. Francis, complete with his very own look-alike stuffed animal and book.
