Stay Healthy and Happy This Holiday Season

It’s hard to resist temptation especially during the holidays. There are so many tasty treats and sugary snacks! You don’t have to sacrifice in order to keep in shape this season. Follow these five simple tips and stay healthy, happy, fit, and fabulous.

Dinner Plate, Knife, and Fork

When serving meals, use smaller plates. Studies have shown that people eat more simply because more is on their plate. If smaller plate is used, the difference in hunger is minimal. This works with smaller bowls for soup, plates for dinner, appetizers and even desserts.

Sign up for a holiday race. Many cities host a Turkey Trot or Jingle Bell Run or just go for a post-meal walk. Start an annual holiday tradition.

Holiday beverages such as alcohol and eggnog can add to your daily calorie intake. You can treat yourself to one glass and sip it slowly. Savor the taste and then go back to water.

Get some fresh air and your neighbors’ Christmas lights. Ditch the car at home, and walk or bike. Get the family in on the action too!
