Celebrate the Fourth of July Skinnygirl Style
By Angel Lenise Robinson June 29,2012
Fireworks, rising temperatures, and patriotic blends of red, white, and blue can mean only one thing: Independence Day is approaching. This year, you don’t have to worry about sacrificing your svelte summer silhouette for a round of celebratory drinks. Skinnygirl Cocktails — brainchild of entrepreneur and “Real Housewives of New York” alum Bethenney Frankel — are to the rescue. Whether you’re hitting the beach on the west, yachting along the river in the east, or breaking out the grill somewhere in between, sipping on these lightweight elixirs will keep your carb-counting at a minimum. We’ll toast to that.
Skinnygirl Sea Breeze
Inspired by the crisp, cool Maine breeze, this cocktail will set your sail afloat. Pour 1 oz. Skinnygirl Bare Naked Vodka, 3 oz. cranberry juice, and 1 oz. of grapefruit juice, in an ice-filled glass and serve with a grapefruit slice garnish for the perfect finishing touch.
Skinnygirl Liberty Belle
It’s quite fitting that Pennsylvania, the State of Independence, receives a Fourth of July nod with this Keystone cocktail. Shake 1 oz. Skinnygirl Piña Colada, 1 oz. Skinnygirl Margarita, and 1 oz. apple juice over ice and garnish the tropical mix with an apple wedge.
This tropical blend pays homage to Iowa, the state at the core of America’s Heartland. Muddle 3 thinly sliced strawberries at the bottom of a tall glass to release their flavors. Fill the glass with ice, and then pour in 1 oz. DeKuyper Strawberry Patch Schnapps, 1 oz. Skinnygirl Island Coconut Vodka, and top with a splash of seltzer. Garnish the savory concoction with a pineapple wedge, and enjoy.
Toast to New Hampshire, one of the original thirteen states, with this easy, Concord apple mix. Blend 1 bottle of Skinnygirl Sangria with 2 sliced apples, and 3/4 cup of blackberries into a large pitcher filled with ice. Serve immediately or let the mixture chill for an hour to let all of the fruity flavors come through.
Yankee Do “White Cran Cosmo” Oodle
There’s no fuss to this dandy delight. Simply shake 1.5 oz. of the ready to drink Skinnygirl White Cranberry Cosmo in ice and serve in a martini glass, accented with a frozen cranberry or two.
