The Glam Globetrotter: How We Planned A “Rewarding” Trip to Copenhagen

In early August we decided a visit to Denmark was in order. We researched flights and found out that Delta flies direct from JFK to CPH. A round-trip economy tickets would cost us 120,000 miles since we were jetting to Europe during the peak season, so we transferred the miles from our AmEx account to our Delta SkyMiles account and reserved our seats. Then we had to figure out where to stay. We were looking for something fun and upbeat in a convenient location. After extensive research, we decided on the Scandic Front Hotel, which is centrally situated in the popular Nyhavn neighborhood, which is filled with waterfront bars and cafes. While it would have cost us over $1500 for a three night stay in a lofted suite, we were able to pay with points. For 126, 212 Membership Reward Points we had a fabulous boutique hotel booked and a traditional Scandinavian breakfast included daily. The best part is, we were even rewarded for paying with points and received a 25,243 point bonus, which we used to buy a $125 American Express gift card to purchase a new outfit for our trip; we opted for navy lace shorts and a soft white tank from Club Monaco.
