So last night was a bit of a bust if you ask me!… I went to the CD release party for Vinyl, Deborah Lippman’s new jazz album.

If you don’t recognize her name… it’s probably because you’re thinking about her in the wrong context. You see… Deborah Lippman is both a celebrity jazz artist and a celebrity manicurist! (And she’s realllllly well-known for the latter.) She paints the nails of starlets by day and then croons and scats by night. Pretty cool, no? Her jazz fan base includes her A-list nail clients (i.e. Scarlett Johansson and Kate Winslet.) So, it’s no surprise that these two famous faces and their well-kept sets of nails were expected at the soirée. In fact, their names were confirmed on the tip sheet!

But, alas, Scarlett and Kate were both no-shows!… This resulted in many a bitter photographer and sullen reporter (myself included.)

Nevertheless, I had a great time. Deborah’s renditions of classic rock/jazz/etc. songs were quite good. (She gave a live performance.)

And she’s also an absolute doll! She talked about how peculiar it felt to be on the red carpet with people calling out her name and asking her questions. She said she’s used to being the person in the background while her celebrity clients get all the attention. Plus, I also got all the scoop on the manicure likes and dislikes of some of her top clients!!! (And some other fun dish on the filing and primping of Hollywood hands like Lindsay Lohan, Scarlett, and even Britney!)

So stay tuned for a Q&A with Deborah Lippman… Celebrity Jazz Singer/ Manicurist to the stars! (FYI: This will get posted next week some time!)

…. P.S. And always a bonus… the gift bag. I scored Deborah’s CD and a couple of polishes from her new collection, aptly named Vinyl… Each color is named after one of the songs on her album! They’re so cute! You can get them too exclusively at Bath & Body Works.
