Superstars at Super Saturday

Stylish celebrities ditched the city and hit the Hamptons on Saturday afternoon, for a day of guilt-free, feel-good designer shopping!

Rain or shine: The massive tents at Super Saturday housed lots of fabulous fashions and spectacular bargains!

Hosted by The View’s Elizabeth Hasselbeck, Super Saturday is one of the most anticipated events of the summer with its outrageous bargains, charitable affiliation, and shop-till-you-drop festivities. The fun-filled, family-oriented fundraiser, which celebrated its tenth year, benefits the Ovarian Cancer Research Fund, and featured a one-of-a-kind designer garage sale, kids’ carnival and activities, raffles, and all kinds of outdoor activities.

Once dubbed “the Rolls Royce of garage sales,” Super Saturday included items at 40 – 60 percent off from top designers like Donna Karan, Carolina Herrera, Gucci, Fendi, Diane von Furstenberg, and many more. (And as the day progressed, the prices went down. We’re talking DVF wrap dresses for $100! Michael Kors bags for $150! Chip and Pepper Jeans for $20!… How low can you go?)

Yes, this was bargain shopping at its most extreme. Experienced Super Saturday alums, came prepared wearing bikinis under their dresses. But even the shopping newbies weren’t afraid to strip down to their skivvies to try on a Marc Jacobs frock in front of a mass of fashion-frenzied ladies on the prowl. These savvy shoppers were ready to fight for their finds, as sizes and styles were running out quickly. While tug-o-wars were few and far in-between, there was the occasional verbal spat over certain coveted pieces. And celebrities dove right into the designer duds along with the rest of the swanky stylish crowd.

Petra Nemcova wasn’t afraid to get her hands dirty. The gorgeous girl was trying on clothes in front of everyone! (Don’t worry… Nothing inappropriate. She just slipped on a pair of pants under her dress!) She told me why she loves being in the Hamptons; “It’s relaxed. People seem to be calmer and enjoying the life a little bit more than in NYC.”

Kelly Ripa sips a beer and gets set to shop. Ripa made nice with the fashion set inside the Super Saturday tents. She told on-lookers what pieces she like and even stopped to coo over babies.

Kelly Ripa perused the finds with two helpers at each side. The bronzed beauty would find a bargain she liked, and text message the booth number to a friend who would help her collect all the goodies. She found so much stuff that her big bags of bargains had to be shuttled via golf cart from the event to her car! I ran into Kelly as she was stepping into her chauffeured SUV and asked if she snagged some good finds. She laughed and replied “These are not all mine! I’m here with like five women. [You’re thinking] ‘Oh what a pig!’ I swear I’m not!” Miss Ripa shouldn’t be shamed! This is shopping for a great cause! Spending more means raising more!

But some celebrities who brought their children got caught up in the kiddie fun, which included a Bratz-inspired dress up station and red carpet. Christy Turlington, a Super Saturday alum, told me that her daughter rarely lets her escape from the carnival for a few minutes of shopping, but she did tell me what she loves about this event; “Well, Liz Tilberis found this organization, and was a dear friend of mine. When I first started working, she was an editor I worked with at British Vogue, and then at Harpers Bazaar when she came over to the States. I always like to support her – sort of a memorial in a way to her every year. And the bigger it gets, the more people that are thinking of her, and the more that she’s been able to leave on the planet behind her. It makes me so proud to have known her and proud that she’s been able to achieve this beyond her life.” Turlington’s husband, actor Ed Burns, wasn’t there, “He’s in California. And he never comes here anyway… He definitely is like you girls have a good time!”

Stylist to the stars, Rachel Zoe, clad in a long vintage Pucci dress, was scooping up good finds. The super skinny fashionista was roaming the tents with her young niece and nephew. She even took a break from the bargains to accompany her little nephew to get some Maggie Moo’s ice cream!

Mandy Moore was another star enjoying the festivites. Her fashion line, Mblem, was at the event and she was excited to check out her collection’s display. When asked if she was willing to fight for fashion finds, Moore replied “Fights? Nobody warned me about that… I don’t think I’m going to get into any fights. I’m not a fighter… I would probably pout, but that’s it.”

Elizabeth Hasselbeck peeks inside a shopper’s bag…

A very pregnant Elizabeth Hasselbeck handled her hosting duties with grace! Wearing a long Milly dress which she claimed “is the most comfortable thing I’ve ever worn. Honestly. I’m never taking it off,” Hasselbeck fueled up with a bag of almonds on the go, as she peeked through shoppers’ bags to see the bargains they found. Other celebs in attendance included Edie Falco, Russell Simmons, Tinsley Mortimer, and Lorraine Braco.

Socialite, Tinsley Mortimer, arrived fashionably late even though the good stuff was running out fast. She still managed to snag up a few bags full of her bargain finds!

Not everyone could enter the horse-farm-turned-sale-space. Adult tickets were $400 ($600 if one wanted to pay for the exclusive-preview tickets.) But, again, let’s not lose sight of the fact that this event raises millions of dollars for the OCRF. So no buyers remorse necessary!

Non-Hamptonites can join in on the Super Saturday fun! There is a post-sale going on right now on Bluefly.com. Proceeds still go to the OCRF. What are you waiting for? Check it out! xo
