Glam recently chatted with American Idol runner-up Blake Lewis. Here’s what he had to say… 

What’s been the biggest change in your life since American Idol?
The biggest change? Well I guess making my album. I’ve always wanted to [record] so I guess that’s a big change, but other than that, I’ve had a lot of new experiences. I’ve done interviews, like we’re doing now. I’m doing television more and more. I’m on stage and performing. And now I have a record!

Who’s your musical idol?
There’s so many. Everything I listen to [inspires me.] The newest record I bought; the one I bought last week. I really don’t want to put anything on a pedestal. As far as what influences me from when I was a kid to now: Michael Jackson, Duran Duran, Prince. All sorts of stuff growing up.

Jordin Sparks has a new album out. Have you guys swapped stories or listened to each other’s music?
Oh yeah. Yeah, I love her album. There are tracks on there that I really, really, really like. Yeah, cause we were on tour together, and we did most of my album on tour. She had a couple [tracks] she did on tour. So she heard a little bit more of mine than I heard of hers.

How do you unwind and relax?
Hanging out with friends –just relaxing. Going to the movies is great –just catching up!

Have you had any funny encounters with fans?
Not funny. I mean there are some really great fans through American Idol or through my music. I got approached in a bathroom for an autograph once. That’s about it.

So American Idol is back in January, will you be watching?
Well, I never watched before I was on it. But now that I experienced it , I’m going to try to. But honestly if I don’t have time, I’m not an avid TV watcher.

What advice would you give to the next batch of American Idol contestants?
Just don’t ever hold back on yourself. Just got for it. You don’t have anything to lose. Don’t fall into the criticism of the journalists and everything. Its just one person’s opinion.

Silly question: What’s on your holiday wish list?
My holiday wish list? I don’t even know. There’s this house that I want to buy. But they’re really not liking my offers. Hopefully I’ll get this house so I’m not homeless any more.
