Q&A with Alec Baldwin

Hamming it up on the red carpet of a Broadway premiere, Alec Baldwin, paused to pose for the photographers and poke fun at the press. Oozing charm and finesse, the 30 Rock funnyman joked about his family, his co-stars and his view on “stripping midgets.”

What is an album that defines your life? (Yes, it’s a weird question… but I admit it… I didn’t ask this one. I overheard the reporter next to me ask him this, and I figured I might as well share the answer with you… even if it wasn’t intended for me. Call me sneaky.)

Alec: What is an album that defines my life? What a cruel question to ask! Um. An album that defines my life?

(Melodramatically.) Well, I want to think of something really sensitive and painful and beautiful. Tapestry by Carol King. I played that album over and over again when I was young. It means so much to me.

(Laughing) I don’t know! I couldn’t answer that question. There are so many. An album? Like, from my childhood? Sticky Fingers by the Rolling Stones. I mean, you know what I mean. You know. Tommy. You know!
Oh, the first album I bought? Um, Beatles 65. Shhh. (Mumbling under his breath.) Beatles 65

Considering it’s such a hilarious ensemble of people, do you have any funny stories from the set of 30 Rock?

Alec: Um. We were gonna have — this actually relates to you in the press. We were going to have a midget stripper come and strip for Tina for her birthday but we changed our minds because we thought that the newspapers might have taken it the wrong way.
(Pointing at me with a playfully mocking tone.) You’re turning red! Have you had a midget stripper before? (Gesturing to the other reporters and raising his voice.) Look how red she’s turning!

You caught me… So, what’d you do for her birthday since you didn’t get her a “stripping midget?”

Alec: Got her a cake and sang happy birthday.

P.S. Not going to lie… Alec Baldwin is a serious charmer! By the time our interview was through, I was seriously smitten. I have a crush.

P.P.S. Happy to report that there’s a whole lot more of Alec soon to come! NBC just signed on for a second season of his hilarious and witty series, 30 Rock!

A Chat with Nathan Lane

So I realize that Nathan Lane might mean very little to you. But for me… seeing Nathan Lane is a BIG deal. Like I’ve previously mentioned, I am a Broadway buff. And Nathan – well – he is a Broadway legend. So take it or leave it… Here is a very brief dialogue with Mr. Lane last night at the Broadway premiere of Curtains.

Nathan: Who are you?
Me: My name is Lauren. I’m from Glam Media/ Glam.com.
Nathan: From Glam Media? Glaaaam Media?
Me: Yes. Glam Media. You should look us up tomorrow!
Nathan: Yes. I’ll “google” you. And I mean that in the nicest way possible.
Me: Tell me about your role on 30 Rock? What’s it like on the set?
Nathan: It’s great. Great. Wonderful group of people. And it’s a very funny show. Alec [Baldwin*] is terrific. We’ve known each other for a very long time so it’s wonderful to play his brother. Very exciting.
Me: What’s your all time favorite Broadway musical?
Nathan: Guys and Dolls
