A fabulous Dior-clad Fergie hit New York City’s Gin Lane last night for the launch party celebrating her new handbag collection, “Fergie for Kipling.” Fergie was having fun on the red carpet striking dramatic poses for the paparazzi.
Fergie spoke to GlamScene about her designs, and here’s what she had to say: “[They’re] really good bags. They’re very durable. That’s why it’s really appropriate for me because I travel all the time. And I’m known to bring a million bags… They’re great for carry on - got a lot of pockets. Like I said, they’re very durable. And you know it’s exciting to step out and do small things. I’m only gonna do what I have time to do… It’s very exciting.”

(Glam attended last year’s pink-to-the-max fete in NYC, and it was some serious pajama-party filled fun– complete with a performance by Ashlee Simpson, cotton-candy stands, deliciously sweet treats, and lots of cool surprises.) This year, the ultimate PINK lady, Fergie , will be performing her hits for fans alongside DJ AM. (Who knows what else is in store? Perhaps a giant pillow fight?)

Katharine McPhee has been keeping busy - a hit single, a new album, and a performance at Z100’s Zootopia concert. Here, the all-American sweetheart dishes on her post Idol whirlwind lifestyle… She even gives us some predictions for this week’s American Idol finale. Read GlamScene’s interview with the adorable chatty Katharine…
Tell us about your new upcoming single? When does it come out?
May 22nd. It’s called Love Story I’m really excited about it… It’s really fun. It’s like a fun summer song you know… Old school vibe to it. I don’t know. It’s more me, I think, than even the first.
Do you plan on touring?
Touring? Um. Well we’re doing this radio tour. This [Z100 Zootopia concert] is the exception to the touring right now. We haven’t gotten on any major tour… We’re going to be pretty busy promoting.
Who do you think will win on American Idol this season?
Um. I think probably maybe Jordan will win. But I hope Blake wins . I like Blake a lot. He’s just cool.
(Editor’s Note: Katharine starts touching her nose) Oh, excuse me as I pick my nose. It’s itchy.
Why do you think Melinda got voted off American Idol last week?
The Westerners finally came to their senses. Not in a bad way toward Melinda. But the Westerners started voting finally. I always thought for sure Melinda would probably win because of the southern vote. Um. I don’t know. I loved Melinda. Wait, what was the question?… I don’t know…
How does it feel to be at Zootopia today?
So exciting. I’m like trying to conserve my voice. This is really a lot of stuff for everyone to like come forward tonight and then to do it all over again tomorrow. I think most of us are all doing the Boston show tomorrow. It’s a blast. I didn’t put on any make up for this. I put on eyeliner and mascara and was like “shoot.” Look at all the photographers over there.
Speaking of no makeup… You just posed for People magazine without makeup. What kind of a reaction are you getting?
Um. You know what. I think people think posing without making is kinda cool. I think it’s kinda cool! I didn’t love the picture, but of course I knew that was gonna happen. I was like I’m gonna pose with no makeup and then I’m gonna hate the way I look! But it was fun. The photo shoot was amazing. I got to be on like a big white board. I was very honored and I’m very thankful.
What concerts have you been to recently. Whose shows do you admire?
Fergie has a lot of money behind that show. She’s very entertaining. And I’m like “one day I will have a big band like that with all those dancers!” I just enjoy watching her.
You’ll be traveling internationally soon. What are you looking forward to most?
Just to see how the different market out there. [To experience] the different music out there… They don’t know me as much as American Idol as America does.
Are you excited to hang out with Chris tonight a the concert?
Chris Daughtry? Yeah, he texted me last night but I was too tired to go out to the bar and hang out with him and the guys. But I’m gonna hang out with him tomorrow night. Such a nice guy. I’m really proud of him.

She taught us how to spell Glamorous and Delicious… Now she teaches a lesson on style and supplies the secret to a successful romance. Fergie gives GlamScene the scoop on her new handbag collection and reveals how she and hottie boyfriend Josh Duhamel keep the flame alive.
How does it feel to be going out and touring solo?
Well its good to be in New York. And you know I’m just getting my feet wet now. It’s my first solo tour. I’m enjoying every part of this journey, because right now I’m coming upon a new footstep of this solo project. The Verizon VIP tour is something special to me because it exposes me to my fans. It’s more interactive… They get to be in the fashion show [at every show.] There’s a red carpet at every show! There’s a little video booth where you can go in and film yourself dancing with me and take it home. And I’m sure I’ll have a lot of kids who are a lot better dancers than I am!
Black Eyed Peas did a lot of huge arenas in the past couple years. So for me it was important to not just take advantage of that, and step into the big world. I wanted to get to know my fans on this level because solo projects are a lot more personal.
Tell us about your brand new handbag line!…
Yes! I have a handbag line coming out with Kipling. Very exciting! Really good bags, they’re very durable. That’s why it’s really appropriate for me because I travel all the time. And I’m known to bring a million bags… They’re great for carry on. Got a lot of pockets. Like I said, they’re very durable. And you know it’s exciting to step out and do small things. I’m only gonna do what I have time to do… But, they’re in the gift room. I saw them and it’s very exciting.
What’s your biggest challenge on stage?
The biggest challenge for me going out as a solo artist [is] wearing heels on stage! It’s a big one for me. I try to stay away from that as much as possible… but I am a girl artist - got to wear a lot of heels!… And also the choreography. Because I don’t have these three guys with me. I have dancers who are so amazing… And that’s a little different for me. I’m used to running around the stage doing whatever I want. But I have kept that in my show. There are parts where its very structured - choreographed moments. And there are other moments when it’s really rock and roll and I’m falling off the stage like usual!
With so much going on, and so much traveling on your plate… how do you and Josh make sure you keep your romance fresh and that you stay connected?
How do Josh and I stay connected? Big phone bills.
