Jessica Simpson had a close call last night strutting across the sidewalk subway grating in front of Cipriani’s in NYC for the 11th Annual ACE Awards. Jess got her heel caught, and almost took a tumble. Thankfully, her “handlers” were able to catch her (and spare her of humiliation.)

Other hot-shot sexy celebrities in attendance included Heidi Klum and Mandy Moore. (They had better balance.)

I’m starting a new feature on GlamScene called the “The Celebrity Sweet Life,” where I’ll be featuring celebrity haute spots!… Be it an exclusive club, a hot new restaurant, a trendy boutique, or a luxurious vacay destination… I’ll take you there. (Well, vicariously!)

WHAT: Pastis. It is the NYC brunch spot. The shabby chic 1930′s-esque Parisian bistro where downtown Manhattanites hobnob with the visiting L.A. elite- where even the skinniest celebrities and models indulge in an order of sinfully delicious steak frites. (And who could blame ‘em? Those downtown divas deserve a yummy reward for braving the wobbly Meatpacking streets in their five-inch stilettos and mini-skirts!!!)

WHERE: Duh. Pastis. 9 Ninth Avenue, New York, NY 10014.

WHO: Pastis’ VIP diners include: Sienna Miller, Lindsay Lohan, Kate Bosworth, Ashley Olsen, Gwen Stefani, Bono, Penelope Cruz, Uma Thurman, and Ashlee Simpson, to name a few.

Miss Jamie Lynn Sigler goes there before hitting up the Gansevoort. Mark Consuelos and Kelly Ripa go there to lunch with the kiddies. Liv Tyler even hosted her wedding reception brunch there! Jessica and Nick used to brunch there. (I suppose Nick takes Vanessa there nowadays. And maybe Jess eats there with John!)

Oh, and look for Pastis featured regularly on Sex & The City repeats…But I digress!

WHY: Point is… This place is perpetually packed with pretty people… so bring your autograph book (or perhaps a digi-cam is less “touristy”) and sport your skinny jeans and ankle boots. You’ll fit right in! And, yes, do order the steak frites. They’re the best.
