Mischa Barton looked frilly, girlie, and fabulous on the green-grass carpet at the A Time for Heroes celebrity carnival. The fun-filled event supports the Elizabeth Glaser Pediatric AIDS Foundation. With caught up with a very dressed-up Barton (a sequined Chanel purse and Louboutins for a hot afternoon at the fair!?!?) and chatted about her upcoming flick, fashion, must-haves, and more!

What brings you here today?
It’s a great event and you get to hang out with the kids and do one-on-one stuff.

Are you working a booth at the carnival?
I think I’m going to do more than one booth hopefully. I think I’m starting over in the Barbie petting zoo! We’ll see.

Tell me about your upcoming movie.
The Assassination of a High School President. It comes out September 12. I’m really excited about it. It’s a dark, quirky comedy with a film noir tone to it. I play Francesca Piazza. She’s sort of the femme fatale character in the high school. And Bruce Willis play the principal, and he’s really funny in it.

With a film noir, femme-fatale kind of theme, did you get to wear anything fabulous?
It’s Catholic school uniforms.

Are you working on anything else now?
Yeah, I’ll probably start filming a film in August.

Besides work, what are your summer plans?
Just hanging out actually. I haven’t been home here much. I’ve been living in Paris, so I’ll probably go back to Paris soon.

Any summer beauty tips that you swear by?
Oh, I’m awful with this question. Wear sunscreen.

Your summer fashion must-haves …
I don’t know. I’m just doing my usual thing. I’ve been doing tons of vintage shopping. My must haves are high-waisted shorts and blouses and I’m looking for more sundresses and sandals always.

On Saturday night Ashley Olsen hit up James Taylor’s concert at Social at Ross in the Hamptons. Ashley, the chicer of the Olsen twins, was wearing a unique and edgy ensemble: loose-fitting blazer; high-waisted, yet ethereal glittery skirt; thick leather belt, and black knee-high gladiator/art-deco/sandal-boot heels.

Now, I’m asking you: LOVE IT OR HATE IT? (Or do you just love hating it?) I hate to admit that love it! No matter what you think, I know you’ll agree that it’s much better than her sister’s outrageous outfit that evening. Comment on GlamScene with your thoughts.

Mischa, Mischa, Mischa…

She’s everywhere. On billboards, television, the red carpet … You name a hotspot, and chances are Mischa is there… (or has been there recently.)

With super successful ad campaigns for mega brands like Bebe and Keds, Barton is definitely here to stay… (And she was just named the spokeswoman for SAFE, a skincare awareness organization… PALE POWER baby!)

Constantly pursued by the paparazzi, we, naturally, want to know everything about the ever-eclectic and often mysterious Miss Mischa. So here is GlamScene’s exclusive Q&A with the fun and fabulous Mischa Barton.

Favorite designers?

I don’t know, probably Chanel. Balenciaga, Mui Mui, I really like, I don’t know… there are so many! Zac Posen.

Favorite handbags?

I love Chloe handbags. And I love Chanel handbags. I’m pretty open. I also think that Costume National has great handbags and shoes.

What about your favorite shoes?

I don’t know because I just love shoes. I don’t even know where to start!

How many do you have in your collection? Over 100?

I have no idea. Probably! [laughs]

And what are your favorite items in your closet right now?

The comfy sweaters, the sweater dresses, and things like that..

What’s your favorite look on a guy?

I like casual, you know, someone who’s very confident in their style, you know, just very comfortable in the way they dress, like it is part of their personality.

What are your makeup bag must haves?

I don’t know. I don’t really have much. I like La Mer lip balm.
