Heidi Klum, Lindsay Lohan, Becki Newton, Katherine McPhee, Rachel Zoe, Kelly Rutherford and other NYFW regulars attended the opening of Matthew Williamson’s first US flagship store last night … Apparently these stylish, social ladies don’t know the meaning of a quiet Sunday evening.

I have a love/hate relationship with New York Fashion Week. On the one hand … It’s pretty awesome that we get to scoot out of the office for a fun-filled day of drooling over fabulous fashion and checking out A-list celebrities. On the other hand … my feet hurt. It’s crowded. Waiting in line is no fun. And I’m always hungry. Then again, on the plus-side … There’s always a lot of champagne. Not that I’m drinking at noon on a Friday. I’ll wait till happy hour rolls around.

Anyway, NYFW kicked off today with a bang with the Heart Truth Red Dress Show. This is my absolute fave event of the season. It’s a little corny, but it’s so super fun. Fab celebrities (Hilary Duff!, Tori Spelling!, Katie Couric!, Susan Lucci!, Patricia Arquette!, Samantha Harris! Vivica A. Fox!, and others) strut the runway in dazzling, fiery dresses to support heart-health awareness. The music is loud and punchy. The styles are sizzling. The celebrities are crazy. And the audience is always game.
I was sitting in the perfect row. I got to gawk at Gerard Butler in the front row! (Delicious.) He looked super-casual in a tee and jeans. I spied Kellie Pickler chatting it up with Christian Siriano. (She was nodding and agreeing with EVERYTHING he said.) It’s always a good time watching the celebs schmooze front and center.

The show itself was as cool as I had anticipated. And the celebrities were hamming it up left and right on the runway. Amanda Bynes was in a super-short Daniel Swarovski dress. I think she was having trouble walking it in. Jennie Garth was gliding along on the catwalk in her romantic Badgley Mischka gown. Tori Spelling looked super-teeny in a frothy-fun Betsey Johnson dress. Vivica Fox was a glamour goddess in a glitzy glittery Jenny Packham dress. Lynda Carter really got into the music and danced down the runway. Valerie Bertinelli looked wonderful in Christian Siriano. (Jenny Craig really has worked some magic. She’s got serious confidence!) Hilary Duff was strutting to one of her own cheesey-cute songs “To the Beat of My Heart.” (Don’t knock it. I’m a fan.) And finally Katie Couric looked demure making her way down the runway in Marc Valvo. She looked a little embarrassed but smiled and waved to her adoring fans.
