Last Night at the Autism Speaks concert, I had the opportunity to chat with my absolute favorite jewelry designer, the lovely and refined Ms. Judith Ripka. So much more than a diamond connoisseur, Judith has an amazing spirit, a charitable heart, and the kindest countenance.
And I won’t neglect to mention that her collection is truly to die for. Judith’s delicate designs and radiant stones, make me weak in the knees. And I’m not the only one who gets lightheaded with glee at the sight of her glistening gems. She bedazzles the necks of countless starlets.
So, while she may not be GlamScene’s typical Q&A… I believe that Judith Ripka is a shimmering star and a diamond in the rough!… (quite like her beautiful jewels!)
Me: First I’d like to say that I LOVE your designs. I’m wearing a Judith Ripka cocktail ring tonight, actually. I wear it every day. It’s my absolute favorite piece of jewelry.
Judith: You’re wearing one of the most beautiful rings I ever designed.
Me: Well, thank you for designing it! Okay, now on to business! How did you get involved with Autism Speaks
Judith: I got involved because of Suzanne Wright. She’s a friend of mine, and I believe she will bring this to the forefront and find a cure for it. Because she’s very energetic. It’s very important to her that she does the right thing for her grandson, who has it [Autism.]
Me: Are you involved with any other charities?
Judith: CCFA (Editor’s Note: Chrones & Colitis Foundation of America.) I’m being honored on May 9th. My son has it. We do City Meals on Wheels; we do Diabetes. My husband could tell you more. I’m blanking on you at the moment.
Mr. Judith Ripka: Ronald Mcdonald House.
Judith: Now Autism… Isn’t that funny. We’re just blanking.
Mr. Judith Ripka: Alzheimer’s Association.
Judith: Yes, Alzheimer’s Association… I’m on the Board.
Me: Wow. You call that roster “blanking out?” On to jewelry chitchat! How do you get inspired?
Judith: Everything in this world has something to say. I’m going to Paris, I find something off their treetops and off their buildings.
Me: What celebrity do you most want to bedazzle?
Judith: I think I have bedazzled her already. Oprah.
Me: What are your favorite pieces of Judith Ripka jewelry?
Judith: I think they’re all my little babies. It’s like asking which is my favorite son, of the three of them. Can’t do it!
Me: Who are your favorite fashion designers?
I have quite a few of them. I would say that Carolina Herrara, Oscar de la Renta… For Funky: Tory Burch.
