So, it’s over! I survived the trauma of live television! And, while the segment was still slightly embarrassing… it wasn’t nearly as bad as I had anticipated.
And I got great insight on exactly what goes into producing live television. It’s intense… Lots of bodies and voices and cameras and microphones; equipment and donuts and coffee and makeup!
Here’s a rundown of my jam-packed morning:
5 am - Alarm
6:15 am – A car service picked me up
6:45 am – Take “Before Shot”… (I was wearing makeup and a cute little outfit… suckahs!)
7 am - Hair
7:30 am – Rehearse segment
8:00 am – Makeup
8:30 am – Get dressed, taped, pinned, sewed, and molested by the michrophone man
9:00 am – Stalk Alicia Silverstone around the greenroom
9:20 am – Cringe backstage at the humiliation of my face on television
9:23 am – It was over!
Anyway… First, allow me to apologize! I didn’t get as many photos as I had planned… (I was getting weird looks from Alicia’s posse of 12 when I whipped out the digicam.) But I did get a few backstage tidbits:
• Jay Manuel, the stylist/ ANTM guru, gave Juliet (as in Juliet from The Mike & Juliet Show) a big bag of goodies and makeup for her to try… Why does SHE get freebies?!?! When she leaned in to give him a kiss on the cheek, he said “careful… don’t want your face to turn orange.” Yeah, he seeeriously should consider lightening up on the bronzer!
• Jay commented on my Kabbalah bracelet. Here’s the thing… It’s NOT a Kabbalah bracelet! It’s just a good luck charm my sister gave me… (Okay, it just might actually be a Kabbalah bracelet. Haha. Whatever.) OH! And apparently he mentioned to the producer that he’s glad they picked “pretty girls” (thanks)… and that sometimes they pick real homely people for the makeover segments. (OUCH!)
• Alicia Silverstone loves loves loves organic products. Okay we know this already. She’s the ultimate green celebrity… And her adorable green little tunic/frock not-so-subtly reminded us that Earth Day is around the corner.
So, that’s all I’ve got… If I remember anything else, you’ll be the first to know! But, truthfully, between the 5 am wakeup call and my lack of coffee (due to my sense of dread) this whole experience was a fuzzy haze.
That said: Here it is. (Be nice.)
Overall, it was fun… but I’m perfectly happy returning to not-so-glamorous/ off-screen life of celebrity stalking…
xoxo,
Lauren
P.S. Everyone should get their makeup airbrushed on… at least one in their life. It’s AMAZING. My skin looks FLAWLESS.
P.P.S. The BEST part… I got escorted in and out of the exclusive side entrance of the Fox building… where they have town cars waiting for you… And when I left, there were two paparazzi who thought I was “someone” and started snapping away! I was about to say, “Um. I’m noone!”… but then I decided to relish the moment… So I paused, posed, smiled… and ducked into the car! I’m SUCH a (wannabe) socialite!
