GlamScene caught up with lovable and goofy George of Grey’s Anatomy (otherwise known as T.R. Knight) at the Butterfly Ball in Los Angeles. Here he talks about his co-stars, his future, and his exercise dilemma.

Your hair is back to its normal color. It was red. What prompted the change?

Oh yeah, I did it red. Well the hair is dyed for the show. So yeah. It’s just time to. I wasn’t working. It was a bad choice. You know. That’s just not… I liked the blue last summer, but the red, it made me look worse than I normally do. So I don’t need that. I need to improve. So the red was a bad choice. It was three weeks. I tried it right? I didn’t like it. So better than wondering. No, not like I spend my time wondering.

How do you keep in shape?

I’m going to the gym right now. Now that we have some free time… It’s just bad because you try to be healthy and then you reward yourself with a pizza or an ice cream. But if you do that everyday, it kind of defeats the purpose. So that’s what I’m learning right now. If you cheat, you can’t cheat everyday.

Summer plans?

Training my dog, and just relaxing. Maybe a little travel. Visiting friends.

You and Katherine Heigl are so close… and she’s sort of the It girl right now with her new movie… have you seen it? What do you think about all of her success?

Oh, very happy for her… Have you seen it? It’s hilarious! I’m gonna see it tomorrow. But I saw one of the – what do they call it – an advanced cut? I don’t know the lingo exactly. Screener? Is it fully done when it’s a screener?… Rough cut! I’m really in the know. And that was hilarious alone, so I can’t imagine. To me it was like “don’t touch it – it’s perfect…

It’s really base humor. And yet it’s not all base humor. And all of these characters they’re real people and you really feel for them. He’s very talented. Well, they all are. Hats off to them.

When will you know who’s coming back to Grey’s Anatomy?

I don’t know. When they tell us. That’s when I’ll know. When the phone rings.

So George on Grey’s failed the intern exam!?! Why? How?

Yes. I don’t write it. They don’t let me write it. His plate’s pretty full.

So you and Katharine’s character have a little romance going on? What’s that like? Is it awkward since you’re such good friends, or is it better like that.

Yeah, it is. There’s a comfort level there. But also you think it would be a little awkward –  like the smooching stuff. But it’s really not. Surprisingly so. Because, I don’t know … Yeah, I don’t know why. But it’s fun. It’s a blast. We laugh a lot. Sometimes a little too much for the producers.

So there’s a great showing of Grey’s people here tonight? What made you come?

Well, Rebecca [Gayheart] is very involved with it. So when she called, of course I was very happy to come. But I think it’s great when people are given the tools to help themselves. And I respect that a lot. And so, if I can come and lend my support, I’m happy to.

The Grey’s cast hangs out a lot. What kind of things do you do?

Yeah. I mean not all of us but some of us do. We go to films and museums. No, I don’t know… We just hang out. You know. Make each other laugh and go out to dinner. The normal stuff. Probably not the “sceneier” places

“Senior?”

No “sceneier”… Yeah, senior…I hate old people. No no no. Please don’t print that I was just kidding of course. The not so sceney places

Are there any shows you love that your bummed about being over for the season?

I don’t have cable right now so I need to do that. I need to get the DVD of the shows that I missed or never saw and kind of catch up a little bit. So I have a lot of catching up to do.
