Herbal and Natural Summer Remedies for Mosquitoes & Sunburn

I found little gems in the July issue of Alternative Medicine magazine.
To win battles against pesky mosquitoes:
1) Avoid wearing perfumes. Sweet and sultry scents can attract a hottie, but they also woo unwanted mosquitoes.
2) Try a little catnip oil. Either purchase a natural repellent that uses catnip or create your own. For your home-grown mosquito brew: always dilute the essential oil (1 part essential oil, 50 parts carrier oil - such as almond, jojoba, or olive oil) before applying to your skin. Catnip oil can work as a repellant for up to six hours.

Aloe

To soothe any sunburn mishaps:
1) Apply the soothing sap of an aloe plant directly to your skin or look for aloe-based remedies as the natural foods store.
2) Try calendula flower (pot marigold) ointments or salves.

Grab a copy of Alternative Medicine magazine for more details such as how to make salves and a healing wash tea.
