I recently started to take a look at what I throw away or recycle in a week. My personal inventory included plastic bags, wire coat hangers, glass bottles, small containers, etc. Even though I recycled some of these, we all know that process of recycling itself spends energy and earth’s resources. Without much added effort on my part, I now drop off coat hangers at the dry cleaner, boxes at the local mail office and I use glass bottles for vases (that I can give as flower gifts for friends).
Here’s a great recycling tool from lime.com. Tell it what you want to recycle and it will tell you how to do it.
Lively Women* suggests visiting Pregnancy & Baby Blog as well as Unplugged Living for more great ideas around living green.

Girl, am LOVING your blog. Thanks so much for offering such great tips and links. I’ve been thinking about my recycling lately, too. Especially because when I wrote “Raw: The Uncook Book” with Juliano and hung out with him on a commune in Ojai, he regularly whipped up feasts and then pulled out the trash can to show me that it was still empty after all of his preparations. I need to do more of that.
Anyway, you go Becky!

I love your idea to give flowers in a glass bottle and what a lovely arrangement in the photo.
Thanks, Rebecca!

So sorry for my blunder Kate. I’ll make an update to my post. That’s what I get for doing too many things at the same time.
Thanks for your comments guys.

got heavily intro’d to the green scene while working at readymade- there is so much out there, so many options- and getting a little creative is at the heart of much of it.

It’s amazing how these changes can fit into your lifestyle, no big hassle (and maoh-man, that’s a gorgeous flower arrangement!)… I think Kim put her finger on the key in her comment here:- “getting a little creative is at the heart of it”!
