I’m attending a Zentherapy® training in Hawaii for the next 5 weekends (wooo hoo, lucky me!). I have been a student of this work for 5 years and a practitioner for 2 years. Here’s a little introduction to what this type of bodywork is and how it can help people heal.
ZENTHERAPY® recognizes that from birth to death, life is flow of energy. This energy takes shape by our attitudes, our emotions, and our bodies. Zentherapy® releases the natural form of the body from the abberations caused by physical, chemical, psychological and spiritual traumas.
Throughout life our experiences ~ the good, the bad, the ugly ~ are stored in the body. Perhaps it was a car accident and whiplash caused the muscles of your neck to tighten and store tension from that point onward. Maybe it was some form of abuse (sexual abuse, physical abuse, emotional abuse) which is also stored in the body as hardened muscle (or abberations, as Dub Leigh calls it above).
THESE ABBERATIONS MISALIGN THE BODY and block the free flow of energy within the body and between the person and the universe. The blocks and misalignment prevent a person from realizing his full potential and experiencing the oneness of all life. Once blocks are removed and the structure is aligned, the body, mind and spirit will move to a higher plateau.
Ultimately this work removes and facilitates healing of the trauma we’ve accumulated in life. It helps people become free of pain. It corrects posture and alignment of the body. For me, it gave me a giant boost that enabled me to move through and out of depression (emotional and mental pain). It enables clients to get truer to their nature, and to be once again like a child both in spirit and in the freedom of movement.
WHO CAN BENEFIT? This type of bodywork is good for people who have a strong desire to heal themselves and are ready to confront whatever is keeping them down. It is not a “massage” and sessions can be painful. The benefit and relief can be felt immediately after the work is received.
HOW MANY SESSIONS? There are 10 sessions. Clients typically attend a session once every 2 weeks.
WHAT IS A SESSION LIKE? Work is done on a massage table. Clients wear a bathing suit. Pictures are taken before an after a session to assess and illustrate the clients progress as their posture improves.
