An article in yesterday’s NYTimes re-issues a warning sign about mercury in tuna. Studies were based on top NYC eateries.
“Sushi from 5 of the 20 places had mercury levels so high that the Food and Drug Administration could take legal action to remove the fish from the market.”

This sounds like another great reason to go veg (I’m workin’ on it, but definitely not there yet). For more inspiration in this realm check out: 4 Fabulous Reasons to Eat Less Meat and What are You Supposed to be Eating.
I also find Nutritionist Diagnosis from my Vegetarian Diet a very helpful post because it discusses not just being vegetarian but also one of the most common issues in diet–too much sugar!

my mom saw a news report about this issue with tuna and mercury. the report said that it can take a year for mercury to get out of your system, so if you’re planning to get pregnant, to stop eating tuna a year beforehand. food for thought. no pun intended!
