I just got my heating bill today. Oh my… it’s a little high. I’ve made a lot of changes to keep my energy use down and, as someone who avoids the cold like the plague, I am very proud of the progress I’ve made. It seems, though, that there is still room for improvement.
The energy it takes to heat a house does a real number on the planet. If I lower my thermostat by a just a few degrees, not only will I save money on my heating bill, but I will lower carbon dioxide emissions to leave a healthier planet for future generations. Every little bit helps, right? The earth is fragile, and it needs love too.
It looks to me like the best way to stay warm and love the planet is to buy myself a brand new, cozy sweater. It’s a win-win situation! I’ll be warm, green, and chic all with one fun step. If you’re looking for ways to help the planet, I suggest you start shopping too.
Keep it simple and give yourself extra points if you buy organic!

I’ve had a similar experience this winter. I sometimes think that I must have no blood, I am always cold. So to keep the oil usage to a minimum this winter I have been bundling up in layers. I even wear a hat and scarf sometimes. Whatever it takes!
