Wellness on Wednesdays is all about the natural you!
Have you ever had a problem with acne? Silly question, I know – we all have. Well, have you found a good way to treat it? With so many products out there, it’s tough to decide how to tackle acne. But I always find that the best way to approach a problem is to have a good understanding of it. So let’s get to the root of it.
Acne is a term that is used to describe clogged pores. When toxins enter your system, they have the ability to create a bacterial infection in the oil glands of the skin. When this happens, your pores become clogged, infected, and inflamed. Voila! Acne.
Now that you’re equipped with the facts, here are some wonderful and natural ways to help your skin:
1. Treat a blemish with all-natural products
• Apply Tea Tree Oil to blemishes to help kill the bacteria and reduce redness.
• Oatmeal and warm water will make a soothing mask for the skin.
• Mint Juice can be very soothing and calming for irritated skin, your face will feel cool and refreshed.
• Aloe Vera extract can sooth irritated skin, decrease redness and swelling. Facial lotions containing Aloe Vera are also helpful
2. Treat blemishes before they appear
• Drink lots of water every day to help flush out toxins and hydrate your skin
• Get plenty of exercise to sweat out any toxins and decrease your stress levels
• Avoid processed and refined foods
• Eat vitamin-rich, whole foods such as green vegetables and fruit
3. Treat blemishes with positivity
Positivity is underestimated as a remedy for clear skin, but just as negative emotions affect your appearance, so do positive ones. Exuding happiness from the inside literally affects you on the outside. Trust me, when you radiate with positivity, you’re your skin will begin to glow too.

Wow - that positivity comment is so true. I’m a huge believer that our thoughts manifest into physical things. For me, when I was going through a rough relationship, the right side of my face would break out (with nothing on the left). Spiritually, the right side represents male energy. VERY interesting stuff. I’m happily single right now, and my skin looks GREAT!

In my experience aloe vera has been too strong to use on my skin regularly. So beware!
The tea tree point is great too. There are some awesome tea tree pads which have neem oil in them which is an herb used in Ayurvedic medicine. It has intense anti-inflammatory powers and my skin has never looked anywhere as good as when I was using these pads. They are Natural Tea Tree Oil Facial Cleansing Pads by Desert Essence. I get mine at Trader Joe’s and they are pretty cheap!
Also, internally coconut oil is absolutely incredible for healing. Scars literally start to fade away and you will never sleep better in your life than after eating some. That’s because it has lauric acid in it which is only found in mother’s breast milk!

Megan, that’s a fascinating story! Sounds like both your outlook and your complexion are radiant!
Michelle, it sounds crazy at first, I know! But when you really think about it, it actually makes sense, don’t you think?
Maggie (wow, we’ve got the three M’s here), thank you for sharing your experiences and the product tip! Trader Joe’s has some fantastic products, I’ll have to check out those cleansing pads!
