On Thursdays we take you to “the well” - your source for inspiration and how-to’s.
Do you know that every relationship holds at least one gift? Hopefully they hold more than just one, but there is always a reason to be thankful for a relationship because it always help shape you. Good or bad, a relationship helps you grow, teaches you about life, and teaches you about yourself.
I am who I am today because of all the wonderful gifts I’ve received in my past relationships. I choose to find the gift in each of them, and I’ve even made a list to see what I have learned and how they have helped shape me.
I am thankful for each one of them:
• I thank Mike for helping me overcome my shyness. I never knew how much falling in love in 6th great would teach me
• I thank Chad for teaching me what I’m worth, and to never settling for anything less
• I thank Matt for showing me what true love feels like and for the experience of falling to sleep every night with a smile on my face
• I thank Sean for teaching me how to let go of someone wonderful who is not right for me
• I thank John for teaching me how to appreciate honesty – even when it hurts
• I thank Erik for teaching me that I am enough, that I love myself and that my intuition is stronger then I realized
• I thank Travis for teaching me that love isn’t always enough and that there is way to let go of the relationship without saying goodbye forever
• I thank the man of my dreams, who I have not yet met, for showing me that trust and faith are enough to keeping going
It’s empowering to acknowledge the gifts our relationships have given us. I invite you all to look at the positive things you have learned from your relationships and make your own “thank you” list. See how you’ve grown and appreciate who you have become.

Erik’s lesson, knowing that “I am enough” really reasonates with me. A powerful gift. Thanks for this thoughtful post, Melissa!
