On Thursdays we take you to “the well” - your source for inspiration and how-to’s.
For years I’ve been sitting at my computer day in and day out with no idea of the degree to which it affected my body. Over the years I’ve developed problems such as upper back pain, TMJ, tendonitis (in my wrists), and I manage to sit in a slouch no matter how ergonomically correct my setup is. You can imagine the excitement I felt when I first heard about Rolfing and discovered that it could help realign my body to make it more efficient.
I immediately signed up for ten sessions – the prescribed amount, which has been dubbed the “10 series.” The certified Rolfer began by viewing my body structure. She noticed the way I walk, how my shoulders slouch, and my overall relationship with gravity. The Rolfing experience itself has been rather enjoyable. It feels quite similar to a deep tissue massage only more intentional, as the practitioner is loosening and lengthening my body for proper alignment.
So far, I have been to the first six sessions and I eagerly anticipate the remaining four. I’ve already noticed a marked improvement in my body: my feet feel more firmly planted on the ground, my formerly tight hip is now relaxed, I am more aware of the space directly behind me, and I feel as if I’m walking taller and stronger then I ever have. I no longer feel pulled down by gravity into a slouching position. It’s amazing what a difference Rolfing has made in the way that I look and feel.
I highly recommend Rolfing to anyone that would like to improve their overall body structure and bring it back to its intended state. The results are amazing!
