“The Well”: Who Are You?

On Thursdays we take you to “the well” – your source for inspiration and how-to’s.

Every so often, I find it helpful – necessary, even – to write an “I am” list of all the things that (you guessed it) I am. It is a simple list, but I find it very empowering. It is an opportunity to check in with my whole self, to be in touch with who I am and how I feel. I leave no details behind – I write out the good, the bad, and the ugly. By honoring every part of myself, I allow myself to be heard, and that always brings me a beautiful sense of peace.

Here’s a peek at one of my lists (actually, it’s just a small sample – the entire list is a few pages long!):

I am playful
I am dedicated
I am passionate
I am funny
I am stressed
I am searching
I am a woman
I am a best friend
I am a daughter, granddaughter, sister, niece, and aunt
I am thoughtful
I am lonely
I am melancholic
I am loved
