It’s Not What You Do, It’s How You Do It…

On Thursdays we take you to “the well” – your source for inspiration and how-to’s.

Have you ever thought to yourself, I could make an impact on the world if only I had a… different job (different situation, different family, different support system, or more time).

I was reminded yesterday that this whole notion is total bogus. This flash of insight occurred shortly after the gardeners left. It was hard to do my conference calls over the noise of the weed-wacker. The loud buzz still rung in my head minutes after it had stopped.
I had spotted the gardener earlier bent over a yellow flower. He’d found the petalled jewel amidst the ground cover and held it to his nose to see if it smelled. How sweet, I thought! He’s actually taking time to smell the roses.

The mossy clay surface had been fed a nice dose of water and on the surface yellow and pink flowers were floating. He wasn’t just smelling the roses. His work of art was like a Balinese offering to the Gods. The sight filled my heart. Joy seeped in and changed my day.

It’s all about the little things.
