Ready to tie the knot, but afraid of offending your mistress Mother Earth? Don’t worry. You can still be green and wear it too! greenKarat.com offers sustainable wedding rings made from recycled metals and synthetic stones. Their goal is to “end destructive gold and diamond mining.”
How do they do this? They use Chatham Created Diamonds. These are made by subjecting the same elements a natural diamond is made of, to the same amount of heat and pressure they naturally receive in the earth. This process is conducted in a laboratory instead of in the ground. Diamonds are guaranteed for life against chipping and breaking.
If you want a ring made from recycled metals, but are opposed to a synthetic diamond, they will use recycled diamonds upon your request. If you’re interested in learning more about the mining process and it’s harmful effects on the earth, their website also offers information on gold mining and gem mining, as well as links to other informative websites.
