Au Natural: Henna for Your Hair

Wellness on Wednesday is all about the natural you!

Henna Hair Dye

Looking for a way to color your hair without the damage? Women in the East have been using henna as a natural hair dye for centuries. Henna is a flowering plant found in parts of Africa and Asia. Hair dye is made by grounding the leaves into a powder, which can be mixed with water and applied to the hair as a paste.

Henna will give your hair a natural reddish tint that will gradually fade away with time. The longer you leave the paste on your hair, the more intense the color will be. Try putting it on at night, wrap your hair with Ceran wrap, and leave it in until you shower the next morning. You will want to sleep with a towel over your pillow to avoid staining your sheets. Henna colors your hair gradually so you may have to use it a few times to get the color you want.

Not interested in being a redhead? Not to worry- henna can be mixed with walnut shells or a black tea brew to create a chocolaty brown color, or with chamomile to lighten blonde hair.

Check out Henna for Hair to find a variety of henna dyes.
