The pumpkin carving season has arrived, but what do you do with your pumpkins once Halloween is over? Before you toss them in the trash, consider one of these eco-friendly ways to recycle them.

1. Add your pumpkins to your compost pile. Why throw them away when you can use them to create magnificent dirt? If you haven’t started a compost pile yet, check out our compost series for a breakdown of what to do.

2. Bake the seeds for a healthy snack. Soak the seeds overnight. Remove all the pulp and allow the seeds to dry. Place them on a cookie sheet and bake at 350 degrees until crunchy. Lightly salt.

3. Make a delicious pumpkin dessert. Check out these websites for creative pumpkin recipes. Boutell.com andThepostpunkkitchen.com.

Please let us know if you have any other fun ideas.
