Friday Faves: Make a Statement With a SIGG Water Bottle

TGiF! Enjoy one of our top picks in today’s Friday Faves…

sigg.jpg

Are you a gal who prefers bikes to cars, CFL’s to incandescents, and organic food to packaged meals? Good for you – you care about your health and the environment! You make eco-friendly decisions that benefit your health and vice versa. So when it comes to your water bottle, what do you do? Recycling is certainly appreciated, but it still adds up (Americans use 30 million plastic water bottles every day), and reusing reduces waste, but it can also be harmful to your health (due to plastic leaching and bacteria growth). So what’s an eco-friendly gal to do? Never fear—SIGG is here!

SIGG Swiss Engineered Water Bottles are the must-have product in Europe, and are available in the US and online. SIGG’s reusable water bottles greatly help reduce unnecessary environmental waste and they keep you healthy and safe. Their special internal coating reduces the chance of bacterial build-up and will not flake or chip even if dented on the outside. SIGG bottles exceed FDA requirements and have been tested to ensure there is absolutely no leaching; they are 100% safe. On top of all of this, SIGG is also a member of 1% For The Planet, donating 1% of all sales to environmental causes.

With 144 bottle designs and 22 interchangeable lids, you can customize your SIGG bottle to reflect your individual personality. Our favorite? SIGG’s lifestyle bottle, “I AM NOT PLASTIC.” Make an eco-statement with your water and drink to your health!

Wellness 101: Using Colors As A Healing Method

In today’s Wellness 101 we bring you color therapy…

colorth.jpg

I recently came across an article on Color Therapy. Not knowing a thing about it, my curiosity got the best of me. I began reading with an open mind and avid interest, and found that color therapy is a bit more complex and involved than you might think….

Everything in life is comprised of vibrating atoms that are connected to the energy within us (also referred to as chakras), and our energy reacts and responds to other energies in the world. As a result, we end-up feeling better or worse, depending on what we happen to be exposed to. Colors, as you may know, hold energy. Color is a visible form of light and electromagnetic energy, and all of the colors of the rainbow carry their own healing properties. Different colors can alter our moods, help cure our ailments, and make us feel better or worse both emotionally and physically.

Think of the bright, yellow sun, a positive healer that always seems to make you feel sunny inside. Now imagine a gray, cloudy day and notice how you instantly feel dejected. In fact, countries that experience long, dreary winters often report higher rates of suicide during bleaker months.

In an actual session of a color therapy, the practitioner uses a variety of different “tools of the trade.” These can be crystals, light boxes, lasers gemstones, candles, colored fabrics, and prisms. The therapist locates the area or areas on your body that are out of balance and applies the color in various ways.

Want to know which colors benefit which symptoms? Here’s a short list of hues that can help alleviate illness, pain, moodiness or discomfort:

• Red is warm, awakens the body, stimulates brain waves, and increases heart rate. Red is good for heart conditions and circulation problems.

• Orange is the color of joy and wisdom. It gives energy, stimulates appetite, and is good for digestion.

• Yellow is known as the energizer. It relieves depression, improves memory, stimulates appetite, and helps with digestive problems.

• Green is calming, balancing soothing, and relaxing. It is a good color for heart conditions and it stimulates growth (note that it should be avoided for cancer patients with tumors)

• Blue is calming and cooling. It is good for respiratory illness and throat infections. It also counteracts hypertension.

• Indigo is the “brow” color. It is great for healing sinus trouble, but be careful as too much indigo can cause depression

• Violet is cleansing, strengthening, and awakening. It improves cancer conditions and helps with migraines

Color is a powerful tool and can be used to help and heal many ailments. Stay in tune with the colors around you, and if you’re interested in utilizing color at a deeper level, seek a color therapy practitioner .

Kick-Start Mondays: A Little Something to Consider

On Mondays we share our ideas to help you kick-start your week!

conflower.jpg

With so much going on in our daily lives, it’s easy to get wrapped up in our own little world. And while it is essential that we tend to our own needs and responsibilities, it is also essential that we consider those around us.

This week, practice being considerate to others:

• Let that car with its blinker on into your lane, even during rush hour
• Keep your voice to a minimum when you’re on your cell phone and in a crowd
• Open or hold the door for the person behind you

These small gestures make a big difference. And not only will you bring joy to another person, you will find that it makes you feel great too. Showing consideration takes mere seconds and can brighten two moods at once. Also, keep in mind that kindness is contagious and your one small deed might go far beyond!
