Some tips for finding the perfect swimsuit from Lisa Curran herself:
To breeze through the swimwear shopping you should know your body, your body proportions and be completely honest with yourself. Lisa Curran suggests, “Feel your best before you go swimsuit shopping” possibly a little pampering before you shop is a good tip before trying on all those suits. She also suggests, “Go with someone you can trust- your best-friend, boyfriend, mom, or husband; anyone who will give you an honest opinion.” Also remember that if you are comfortable and confident you will look great.

Q & A With the Swimwear Guru: Lisa Curran
1. What are specific trends, colors, patterns for the 2007 season?
The colors to have for this summer are green and yellow and for a more sophisticated look black and slate grey. Also metallics are very popular. Gold!!
2. What’s new this season?
There are a lot of metallics in the swim market. You might see a splash of it or in a full one piece.
3. What are the key silhouettes for the season?
A lot of rouging in swimwear in very popular. You can find it on a bikini or a one piece. Also one pieces are making a come back.
4. What silhouette looks best on almost any body type?
Adjustable halter tops and tie side bottoms work best for many body types. They work so well because you can adjust to fit to your body type. If you need a lift you can adjust the tie at the neck and if you prefer your bottoms higher or lower you can adjust the ties.
5. What style(s) best complements/conceals ample hips and bottom?
Try solids that offer tonal detailing. For example our shirred v-neck one piece fits great. It offers full support and the shirring along the body draws the eye away from your lower part.
6. What style(s) best complements short legs; petite forms?
Tie side bottoms. Less is more. A simple string bikini works best for petite frames.
7. What style(s) best complements plus-size figures?
Try more subdued colors with a print just at the trim. We have a classic tank that we offer in a cocoa color with a leopard print as the trim to still give you a stylish look.
8. What style(s) help create cleavage?
A little push from the bottom is always good – but def. always go with halters. You can adjust for your look.
9. What swim cover-ups are key this season?
Caftans- in any shape.
10. How should care for your swimsuit(s)?
Hand wash with a very mild detergent. Never machine wash. I always use a touch of jasmine or lavender to keep them smelling like summer.
11. For those who can’t afford to splurge on a new suit, how can one
update an old one? (ex. accessories help, but looking for answer specific
to suits; examples- with a cover-up, buy mix and match separates to add
a punch of color, etc.)
Mix and match is a key when you are purchasing a swimsuit. If you have a print try to solid bottom from a color from the top. A key to mixing and matching the correct way is to stay within the same company. Usually the solid color they are offering will match back with their prints. Also, if you are want a solid suit, you might try a basic scoop bottom that can be worn with a bandeau top or a halter with some type of trim in the middle to totally change the look. Our collection is all mix and match and all the colors match back. www.lisacurranswim.com
