Your Guide to the Right Red Lipstick
By Valis Vicenty November 30,2012
A classic red lip never goes out of style and is one of the holiday hues everyone will pair with their party apparel. The only trouble is one shade can look great on someone else, but may not work for you. Here are a few tips to help you find your most flattering shade. Set the Tone – It all starts with understanding your natural skin undertone. An easy way to find out is to look at the underside of your forearm and see what hues you notice. Regardless of ethnicity, yellow and orange undertones indicate a warm tone while pink or blue show you’re cool toned. If it’s not so visible look at your veins, veins that show up slightly green are more warm-toned while blue, bordering on purple are cool. Warm It Up – If your skin has yellow, orange, or golden glint. You can snap up similar shades that will help your undertone glow. Cool It Down – For those with fair skin or cool undertones, a blue based red will emphasize your look with a timeless pop of color. Pure Pigment – If you’re still unsure, swipe on a pure red and look at your skin and teeth. Your skin should look radiant and your teeth white. If you look more sallow, that shade’s not for you.
