The Five Romantic Comedies You Can’t Miss
5. How to Lose a Guy in 10 Days
First of all, both Kate Hudson and Matthew McConaughey are gorgeous. Secondly, the writing in this movie is actually funny. Each year we’re forced to deal with a bunch of pretty unsatisfying romantic comedies, but this one rose above the rest with it’s witty one-liners and insightful portrayal of girls who just don’t know when to stop. And have I mentioned Matthew McConaughey is hot?
4. Serendipity
John Cusack is in this which automatically makes it a must-see, but the clever addition of Kate Beckinsale, Jeremy Piven, and Molly Shannon solidifies this movie’s place on this list. Can I tell you my absolute favorite moment? When Bridget Monyahan gives him the book he’s been looking for the entire movie and he opens it and sees the number… the expression he makes RIGHT THEN is just so awesome. I love it.
3. Mr. and Mrs. Smith
I know, number 3 seems kinda high for this movie, but the bottom line is, it’s good. I do not normally love Brad Pitt or Angelina Jolie but I really liked them and their characters in this film. And you cannot deny the heat between them. I mean, it is interesting to watch them as they started to fall in love…
2. When Harry Met Sally
“I love that you get cold when it’s 71 degrees out. I love that it takes you an hour and a half to order a sandwich. I love that you get a little crinkle above your nose when you’re looking at me like I’m nuts. I love that after I spend the day with you, I can still smell your perfume on my clothes. And I love that you are the last person I want to talk to before I go to sleep at night. And it’s not because I’m lonely, and it’s not because it’s New Year’s Eve. I came here tonight because when you realize you want to spend the rest of your life with somebody, you want the rest of your life to start as soon as possible.”
Enough said.
1. Pretty Woman
Of course it’s Pretty Woman! It’s the greatest romantic comedy of all time! A gorgeous prostitute finds love with Richard Gere while shopping on Rodeo Drive and fending off George Constanza. It’s the recipe for a perfect movie! (I want to mention at this time that I LOVED the character that was Vivian’s best friend in the movie—played by sneaky good Laura San Giacomo.)
