#NYFW Mary J. Blige, Mena, and Mimosas at Malandrino
By NOLAW 02.19.2009 imt
An invitation to the Rainbow Room is never one to turn down and Thursday morning Catherine Malandrino staged her Fall 2009 show atop Rockefellar Center. Editors, Buyers and celebs like Mary J. Blige and Mena Suvari climbed the elevators to the 65th floor, where they were greeted with mimosas and breakfast pastries. Themed “Over the Rainbow” Malandrino took us to an elegant Oz full of suprise and desire. Looks seemed inspired by the art deco icon with jeweled embellishments, futuristic details, and plays on nudity and illusion. Tanya D opened and closed the show, which relied heavily on a noir mystery and intrigue. Models wore black mesh veils/hair net hybrids, which in many cases covered the face. Other interesting touches included hands and wing embroidery, leather birds, and an eye brooche. We loved the chic whimsy and ride to the top. ~ Nola Weinstein Glam Editor BlogsLatest Posts |
