A Burberry Day Bash

cbailey

With the perfect amount of fog dominating the Manhattan air, Burberry took the city by storm. On Thursday evening Burberry lit up the New York Skyline, and to celebrate the brand’s chief executive Angela Ahrents and creative director Christopher Bailey hosted a stylish bash. Over 300 notable guests gathered atop the New York Palace Hotel to watch the 50-foot long Burberry logos glow atop Burberry’s new American Headquarters at 444 Madison Avenue. As Orlando Bloom, Claire Danes, Hugh Dancy, Blake Lively and Lily Donaldson listened to a performance by One Night Only and a DJ set from Alexa Chung, we caught up with Bailey to talk about the momentous occasion. ~Nola Weinstein

GlamChic: How does it feel to see Burberry in the New York skyline?
Bailey:
It’s a very emotive moment for me. It’s pretty phenomenal that we can effect the iconic New York skyline in some small way. It’s a real pleasure and a privilege.

GlamChic: Aside from 444 Madison, what’s your favorite building in Manhattan?
Bailey: I love the Apple store on 58th Street. It’s probably one of my favorite places of shopping in the world.

GlamChic: What’s your favorite website?
Bailey: Burberry.com. But the thing about the web is that it’s not about one thing but it leads you from one thing to another. It leads you on to a different world.

GlamChic: If a woman buys one Burberry item what should it be and why?
Bailey: A trench coat because that’s iconic, it’s part of the history and it will last forever.

GlamChic: Do you know how many have been sold to date?
Bailey: Gazillions!
