This afternoon we had the pleasure of witnessing Oscar de la Renta tape his first appearance on the Martha Stewart Show. The always charming designer joined Martha Stewart Wedding’s editor-in-chief Darcy Miller in introducing some of his most popular wedding gowns. But before doing so, De la Renta shared his advice for brides shopping for that perfect dress. “Don’t bring your mother,” he said to the crowd of newly engaged ladies. “The idea of the the mother and the idea of the girl are two different things!” But overall De la Renta was excited with the room full of prospective clients. “This is the most exciting time to be dressing a woman; never before has a woman been so in control of her destiny,” he said.
