On the eve of Fashion Week, Michelle Obama made a style statement all her own. The First Lady addressed the crowd at the Democratic National Convention in an elegant ensemble. FLOTUS took to the stage Tuesday evening in a custom Tracy Reese Silk Jacquard Combo Frock in Abstract Baroque Wallpaper Print and J.Crew Everly suede pumps in rhubarb, which retail for $245. Her purple gray manicure pleased the polish obsessed undoubtedly leading to a new nail trend.

Regardless of what effect her speech had on voters, we’re sure Mrs. O’s choice provided a big boost for Reese, who is hard at work on her Spring 2013 collection. The designer  will show at Mercedes-Benz Fashion Week on September 9th at Lincoln Center .
